Daytime Emmy Award winner Ray MacDonnell has sadly passed away. He played Dr. Joe Martin on ABC’s All My Children, a role he played for more than 40 years. As per reports, the actor died of natural causes on June 10 at his home in Chappaqua, New York.
Ray's daughter, Sarah, told Michael Fairman TV that there would be a private memorial held for her late father. Tributes and obituaries have been coming from friends and fans. MacDonnell is survived by his wife Patricia and three children Daniel, Sarah, and Kyle.

Hundreds of fans also tweeted in memory of their favourite character, Dr. Joe. One fan wrote, "RIP to the late great Ray MacDonnell. There was no other like Dr. Joe."

Born on March 5, 1928, in Lawrence, Massachusetts, Ray graduated from Amherst College. He later attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art on a Fullbright scholarship. The late actor kickstarted his career by acting in several Broadway productions. He played opposite Angela Lansbury and Ann Miller in the musical Mame at the Winter Garden Theatre.
Ray played Dr. Joe Martin in All My Children for 40 years.

Best known for playing the patriarch of the Martin family in the ABC's show, Ray's role, a businessman named Philip Capice in the CBS soap opera The Edge of Night was also loved the same. His other notable credit includes Dick Tracy.
