The "Complicated Relationship" Between Kylo Ren and Rey will be the Driving Force of 'Rise of Skywalker'

The co-writer of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is saying the complicated relationship between Kylo Ren and Rey will be at the fore-front of the new movie coming this holiday season.

Anyone who’s seen the first two new continuations of the 'Star Wars' story knows there is a certain amount of tension between the two leading characters of the new series, 'Rey' and 'Kylo Ren.' There is this weird amount of sexual tension between the two characters, there is denying, for whatever reason the two characters are attracted to each other.

Maybe they do not want to get down and dirty with each other, but still, there is a certain amount of magnetism between the two characters which tells us the two are going to end up together by the end of the saga and not in the way a fairy tale is supposed to end. The two characters are headed on a collision course and the past, and the future of Rey and Kylo will depend on the way they meet in the end.

The conflict of Rey and Kylo was set up from the moment he killed his own father, and then there was no coming back. Rey thought she could bring Kylo to the light and get him to see the futility of the path he is on. But now it is clear to everyone where they stand, but it doesn’t mean the story is complete and the conflict between the two is fully realized.

There is still many more complication in the way their relationship was pitched in the past movies. Now, the co-writer of the film is talking about the final film in the Skywalker saga will focus on the conflict between the two leading characters and try to resolve the complicated relationship between the two.

Chris Terrio, who is writing the movie along with J. J. Abrams, talked to Empire Magazine and said the main focus of the film would be on the ever-complicated relationship between Rey and Kylo Ren. He said, “Some of the most interesting scenes in The Last Jedi are the conversations between Rey and Ren, [and] we’ve tried to pick up that complicated relationship that really has been present ever since the interrogation in [The Force Awakens].”

We’ve seen how ruthless Kylo is about everyone and everything, but there is this restraint he shows when Rey is involved, “there’s a nakedness about him with Rey that he doesn’t express to anyone else,” the writer continued.

By now the trailer of the movie is already seen by people, the world over, and the ending shot of the trailer shows Rey taking up the red lightsaber which is associated with the Dark side. Fans are speculating Rey will be turned to the dark side, but if it were the case, then they would not show it in the trailer in the first place.

Rey is not going to be turned to the dark side, but we are still excited for the release of the movie which is set for 20 December 2019. The last time Skywalker name and the saga will be shown on the screen, the culmination of nine episodes and over 40 years of storytelling.
