Edinson Cavani Extends One-Year Contract With Manchester United

The Uruguayan forward has signed a new deal with the Red Devils.

Edinson Cavani has penned a new one-year deal with Manchester United. The new contract will keep him at Old Trafford until 2021-22 season.

On his Instagram, the striker himself wrote: 

"PROUD to defend this jersey...."

On his contract extension Cavani expressed his happiness as he said:

"Over the season, I have developed a great affection for the club and everything that it represents. I feel a deep bond with my teammates and the staff who work behind the scenes here. They give me extra motivation every day, and I know that, together, we can achieve special things. From the very first moment that I arrived, I felt the confidence of the manager."

Edinson further added:

"As a player, this belief gives you the perfect opportunity to play your best football, and I want to thank him for that. I have been touched with how much the supporters have wanted me to stay, and I will give everything to bring them happiness and joy with my performances on the field. I've not yet been able to play in front of the Old Trafford crowd, and that is something that I cannot wait to do."

Fans will be happy as the 34-year-old has been in fine form since he made his move to Old Trafford. So far, he has scored 15 goals in all competitions for the club. He was crucial in Manchester United's semifinal game against As Roma, scoring four goals over the two legs.

The former PSG striker also scored in the comeback win against Aston Villa on Sunday's league match. With the victory, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men guarantee their place in next season's Champions League.
