All the Essentials to be Ready for Game of Throne Prequel House of Dragons; According to George R.R. Martin
Reading materials and other essentials according to George R.R. Martin for the upcoming new Game of Thrones Prequel series coming to HBO.
After the end of 'Game of Thrones,' however, it went down, there was instant talk about which show in the current lineup of TV shows will be able to fill the massive void left by the once in a lifetime type of show. Some tried to take their swing at the mantle, namely 'Carnival Row,' and some will be trying to take the crown (looking at you 'The Witcher').
But the thing is, there is no better substitute to 'Game of Thrones' than a similar show which visits the same world and interacts with almost the same families about 300 years before. Well, HBO is going to go back to the well, we know it for certain. There isn’t another big juggernaut of a show with millions of built-in fanbase all over the world, and HBO would be remiss not to go back.
Watch: The trailer for the final season of Game of Thrones
The channel decided to give 'Game of Thrones' another go and even ordered a pilot which finished shooting, but now the pilot shot series is canceled, and HBO placed a 10 episode order for the adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s other books 'Fire & Blood' for the series entitled House of Dragon.
Obviously, the story is about the rise of the Targaryen family, and the book is set some 300 years before the 'Game of Thrones' series on HBO. This seems like a sure deal because the show they ordered to pilot before was said to be based about a thousand year before the start of HBO series which meant new fans needed to be acclimated to the new surroundings, but with 'House of Dragon,' they can use the same locals as before but only a little bit shinier and no sign of the winter or the talk of the white walkers.

There was inherently something wrong about seeing a story set thousands of years before the characters we’ve known and loved for over eight years. There wasn’t going to be any type of consequence to the later generation with the two timeline being thousands of years apart. No one wants to know the origin of the white walkers because we know they are not going to amount to much.
So, this choice to go ahead with the Targaryen storyline is a sound one even though we know how all the Targaryens are going to perish. They were the greatest house of Westeros, and there is enough story to convince fans to come back for seconds even though they were scorned away by the happenings of the final season of 'Game of Thrones.'

George R.R. Martin was also thinking the same thing, he stated in a blog post about how he pitched the idea way before the series was even announced. He wrote, “House of the Dragon has been in development for several years (though the title has changed a couple of times during that process). It was actually the first concept I pitched to HBO when we started talking about a successor show, way back in the summer of 2016.”
The writer of the 'A Song of Ice and Fire' book series said he was not going to be writing scripts for the new series, and he is currently busy finishing the last two books in the series. The writer did say he would take on some writing duties as he did in the first four seasons of 'Game of Thrones,' once his plate gets a little lite.

So, for the people who want to get an inside scoop on the series before they come out, George shared some reading materials to get yourself ready for the new series. He wrote, “If you’d like to know a bit more of what the show will be about… you might want to pick up a copy of two anthologies I did with Gardner Dozois, Dangerous Women, and Rogues, and then move on to Archmaester Gyldayn’s history, Fire & Blood.”
'Game of Thrones' is over, people feel burnt after how the series ended, and now we cannot stop ourselves but go back and put out hands in the same fire pit, hoping not to get burned this time. Will the new series be able to match up or avoid comparisons to the original series? No, and No, all we could hope for is a good story told by brilliant people who listen to one another and do not let their ego get the better of them.

There is no release or production date or cast of 'House of Dragons' as of right now. The channel is probably looking for people to run and write for the series right now, with the cast being added at a later date.
