Juventus Qualify For The Champions League Next Season

Juventus came out victorious in their last game of the season. And they will need to thank only one team for that, Hellas Verona.

The Old Lady came in their final matchday of the 2020-21 campaign outside the champions league position but with a fortune of luck, and the impressive display has just earned them a place in the next term's champions league.

Juve won an impressive 4-1 against Bologna away from home in Renato Dall'Ara stadium. In Juventus' final game, coach Andrea Pirlo opted 4-4-2 formation. In the crucial must-win the last match, Pirlo surprisingly decided to leave out Cristiano Ronaldo, who remained on the beach the whole game.

In the 30 times Scudetto champion's win Federico Chiesa and Adrien Rabiot scored a goal each while Alvaro Morata netted two. As for the home side, winger Riccardo Orsolini scored the consolation goal.

Now, the Bianconeri needed either AC Milan or Napoli to slip up and lose points so that they could climb up into the champions league zone. Milan were up against Atlanta, who were already qualified for the Champions League. It was certainly not easy for Milan, who were up against an in-form side, and many thought Milan would most likely miss out on the top four.

But Franck Kessie scored from the penalty spot late at either half of the game to help Milan not only secure the champions league next season but also end the season in the second position. The Rossoneri will play in the Champions League for the first time since the 2013-2014 season.

Now Juventus' hopes of finishing in the top four rested in the match on Napoli vs. Verona. Before the game, Verona was winless in their last eight league matches, while Napoli was undefeated, winning six in the previous eight games.

It was clear as day that the Blues were a clear favorite, and football experts believed that Napoli would win it and push Juve out of the top four. However, Verona had other ideas.

The match was held in Stadio San Paolo, which was recently renamed Stadio Diego Armando Maradona to honor the passing of the club's legend Diego Maradona.

The first half ended in a goalless draw, and to many people's surprise, Verona looked more dangerous to score. Nevertheless, defender Amir Rrahmani scored in the 60th minute to put Napoli in the lead. However, the former two times Serie A champions could not secure their advantage as Davide Faraoni leveled Verona only eight minutes later.

For more than twenty minutes, Napoli tried to score the match-winning goal, but Verona defended well and held on. As a result of the draw, Napoli ended the season at fifth position and, unfortunately, will miss out on next season's Champions League.

It was indeed a dramatic end to the season's last matchday. Congratulations to the teams for securing the champions league and commemoration to those who have been relegated.
