Lin-Manuel Miranda's Wife Vanessa Nadal - When Did They Get Married?

When Did Lin-Manuel Miranda Get Married To His Wife, Vanessa Nadal?

The rapper/singer was just working in the play and music industry when a deliberate coincidence caused the two future couple to meet. The meeting quickly turned into love, and then wedding bells was something which was just around the corner. When the singer felt comfortable with his life, he wanted to get married to his future wife and someone he’d been in a relationship for almost five years.

After much deliberation, the Lin asked Vanessa to marry him and the whole thing took off after the couple decided it was the right time to exchange their vows on 5 September 2010. The wedding was full of surprises for Lin’s newly minted wife, with Broadway singers serenading the whole thing. The bridal party took to the stage during the ceremony, led by Miranda and the whole group sang ‘To Life’ from ‘Fiddler on the Roof,’ and Lin was the one leading the whole group. Then the singer serenaded his new wife with a special song dedicated to her and her only.

The night was filled with music and famous people coming and going while blessing the new family of two, which would later grow. Except for the talented musicians in attendance like singer Ruben Blades and Gilberto Santa Rosa, there was also the 22-piece orchestra which played the whole night in the couple’s special day.

When Did The Couple First Met?

The thing is, the two, future husband and wife, studied in the same school, Lin was a senior, and Vanessa was two years his junior. While the actor/singer always was among the cool kids and found Vanessa attractive while they were in school, but he could never muster enough courage to talk to the future mother of his children. Lin talked about never “having game” when it came to women he found attractive, and it was evident from the story of Lin never talking to Vanessa and leaving for college in Wesleyan University while the talented Nadal got accepted into MIT.

After a few years, while she was working with Johnson & Johnson working on anti-aging serums, she was invited to a show he was doing, Freestyle Love Supreme. The singer found her profile on Facebook and invited her, seeing her interest in rap and salsa, and to his surprise, Vanessa showed up and even joined his friends after the show for drinks.

Vanessa later said Lin was not talking to her and he was always busy with other friends, but the actor later clarified he was so nervous he got his friends to get her number for him. Miranda was so sure he found the one, she was not intimidated by the rapper and singer, and he was infatuated by the way she ingrained herself among his friends which were totally away from the scientist circle she was part of.

When the moment was right, the singer was finally able to make his move, and he decided he was going to be smooth about everything and then he invited her to his home to play Grand Theft Auto and watch a movie and she was down for it all. Soon, the couple was dating, and it was only a few weeks later, they exchanged apartment keys and later moved in together. Vanessa left her job with J&J and started her law studies and then finally the couple got married.

The Children Of Lin And Vanessa

Miranda and Nadal were married for over three years when she became pregnant and about the time of their fourth marriage anniversary; the couple welcomed their first child in November 2014, a boy Sebastian. The fruit of their love was there for all to see, and Lin and Vanessa’s love only grew with the arrival of their firstborn.

The rapper almost always speaks about his wife while taking the stage, and when he first mentioned her after winning the Tony in 2008, he rapped about her, but after the son was born and he grew with the love of his life, Lin prepared and delivered a sonnet about his wife and son. “My wife's the reason anything gets done. She nudges me towards promise by degrees. She is a perfect symphony of one. Our son is her most beautiful reprise,” the singer said after accepting the award for Hamilton.

The love of the couple was doubled when they welcomed another son a few days before Valentine’s Day on 2 February 2018. Francisco was born a healthy kid weighing seven pounds and thirteen ounces and joined his older brother in this world.

After almost ten years of marriage and nearly 15 years of relationship, the couple is going stronger than ever. The couple is happy and living their life, taking care of their two sons and furthering their careers while also maintaining a loving family.
