Mary-Kate Olsen is Divorcing from Husband Olivier Sarkozy

Mary-Kate Olsen is filing a divorce from Olivier Sarkozy.

Mary-Kate Olsen, as per the legal papers published by TMZ, demanded an immediate request to seek a divorce from her partner Olivier Sarkozy.

The twin sister of Ashley Olsen, 33, allegedly filed a petition for divorce from the French banker, 50, on 17 April, however owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, New York courts are reluctant to approve divorce filings, except in situations of emergency.

According to TMZ news, Olsen claims her attorneys got an email from Sarkozy's representatives saying that she had to get out of the couple 's apartment in New York City before May 18. Olsen asked for an extension to May 30 because she can't meet the deadline due to the city 's stay-at-home directives, but claims he is yet to respond. She also says he had ended their contract without her understanding.

The records allegedly indicate that one option for Olsen to secure her assets is through submitting a divorce motion that will "trigger an automatic court order preventing him from disposing of her property." TMZ stated she demanded in the divorce petition that their pre-nuptial arrangement be implemented.

Olsen and Sarkozy kept their relationship pretty low-key ever since exchanging vows in November 2015.

The small event was held at a private estate in New York City 's hometown. Around 50 guests enjoyed drinks in the back garden of the house, accompanied by dinner indoors.

The couple started dating back in May 2012 and got engaged in early 2014. While their 16-year age difference caused concerns, Olsen believes everyone's got an opinion and she finds it easier to concentrate on what's in front of her than put one foot in front of the other.
