Melanie Panayiotou George Michael's Sister dies on his 3-year Death Anniversary

Yet another tragedy befalls George Michael's family!

It's a tragic thing to say that late English singer, George Michael's sister, Melanie Panayiotou has tragically passed away. And that too on the Christmas day. She was 59.

The Metropolitan Police exclusively told ET that at approximately 7:35 p.m. on Wednesday London Ambulance Service was called after reports of a woman's death. At the moment, police has made it clear their's no suspected foul play.

George Michael's sister Melanie has died at the age of 59.

The family attorney, John Reid, confirmed the tragic news in his statement which read, 

"We can confirm that very tragically Melanie has passed away suddenly. We would simply ask that the family’s privacy be respected at this very sad time. There will be no further comment."

George's bandmate Andrew Ridgeley also paid his tribute to his former crew's sister. He stated it as an 'utterly tragic,' moment.

As coincidental it may sound, George also died on the Christmas day back in 2016. He passed away due to heart failure while sleeping at his residence in Goring-on-Thames, Oxfordshire.

Both of the siblings are now survived by their father and sister, Yioda.

The later singer had two sisters Yioda Panayiotou and Melanie. The three siblings were born to Kyriacos Panayiotou (a greek immigrant) and Lesley Angold (a dancer).

Melanie and George had a close relationship. In multiple interviews, she vividly recalled how growing-up George was a different type of person.
