Former Miss USA Cheslie Kryst is Dead at 30

Miss USA 2019 Cheslie Kryst is no more. Kryst died on Sunday morning after falling from her sky-high building in Manhattan. Kryst was only 30. She has reportedly left a suicide note, where she has stated that all her belongings will go to her mother, April Simpkins, former Mrs. North Carolina US. Kryst is also survived by her four brothers and one sister.
Kryst surviving family put out a statement to confirm her tragic death. "In devastation and great sorrow, we share the passing of our beloved Cheslie," the family said in the statement, further adding, "Her great light was one that inspired others around the world with her beauty and strength. She cared, she loved, she laughed, and she shined."

Just a few hours before her reported death, Kryst uploaded a picture of herself on the gram with the caption, "May this day bring you rest and peace."Cheslie Corrinne Kryst was born on April 28, 1991, in Jackson, Michigan, to a Polish American father and an African American mother. The family relocated to North Carolina when Cheslie was young.

She graduated from Darla Moore School of Business with a degree in marketing and human resource management. Kryst also worked as an attorney after obtaining her degree from Wake Forest University School of Law in North Carolina. Before her death, Cheslie worked as a New York correspondent for Extra; broadcasting she joined in 2019 and even earned an Emmy nomination for the position.

"Our hearts are broken," Extra said in their statement. The producers further wrote, "Cheslie was not just a vital part of our show, she was a beloved part of our 'Extra' family and touched the entire staff.
