Real Madrid Ease Past Liverpool 3-1 In UEFA Champions League Last Eight

Real Madrid beat Liverpool 3-1 in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals first leg, thanks to a brace from Vinicius Jr.

In what was expected to be an evenly-matched contest between Real Madrid and Liverpool, the Spanish giants found an easy route to get into a favorable position to reach the semi-finals ahead of the second leg by beating the English side 3-1.

It was a highly-anticipated clash in Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium where the home side Real Madrid was going against English Champions Liverpool, giving off a 2018 Champions League vibe.

Despite all the expectations, Liverpool looked shambolic at the back with a poor defensive and midfield display. Midfield maestro Toni Kroos made a slick long ball to Vinicius Jr, who scored first in the night to give the Spanish side the integral first goal.

The second goal followed shortly after as the Reds' right back Trent Alexander-Arnold made a big error gifting a free header to Marco Asensio in the 36th minute to slot a beautiful goal past Allison.

Liverpool had zero shot on target, which might have led to a harsh pep-talk from Jurgen Klopp in the dressing room. The Kops made the first-half change with Thiago coming for Keita. They did show some intent in the second half creating several chances, out of which Mohamed Salah scored in the 51st minute.
