Star Wars 9: Post Production is Done Now onto the 20 December 2019 Release Date

Star Wars Episode 9 is locked, loaded and ready to be viewed on a screen near you.

'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker' is ready for showing as the director J.J. Abrams confirmed he is done with all the tinkering and editing, and the movie is locked now for the 20 December 2019 release.

The final Skywalker saga movie went on the floor last year in August, and principal photography took more than five months as the director came back to start the post-production on February of 2019. So, the movie finished filming in February, and the final cut is ready less than a month from the actual release date of the movie.

J.J. Abrams was on Good Morning America, where he was kicking off the press tour for the movie and also showed a new clip from the film. The director said he only recently finished the final cut of the film, and it is now ready for the viewing audiences.

A movie like Star Wars is a massive undertaking, and no matter what the directors of the past think about the use of CGI in movies these days, Star Wars is still more complex, which is why there was a ten months window to get the special effects done. The CGI in these type of movies are of the essence because no matter how much of a natural location is used, there still needs to be a lot of tinkering to be done with the movie.

This is the reason why the team behind the movie created such a large buffer zone, so they can take their time and make everything as perfect as it can be. The CGI team was provided with a lot of time, and the director was also busy editing the movie along with the additional reshoots to correct some issues in the film.

The fact of getting so close to the release date for the movie to be finished is not something new for the modern Star Wars series. The first movie of the sequel trilogy was locked in November like this one by J.J., which was not the case for The Last Jedi, which wrapped up in September. But still, the director seems to be happy with the product he is providing, which is why we are excited no matter how close he cut it to the actual release date of the movie.
