Anthony Mackie got a Special Moment Ruined for Him by Chris Evans in Avengers: Endgame
The shield handover scene in Avengers: Endgame finale was spoiled for Anthony Mackie by Chris Evans.
'Avengers: Endgame' was the culmination of years of building up by the MCU where multiple characters came and went, and at the end of the movie, almost all who helped get the MCU to where it is now were present for the end of 11 years of hard work. There were story beats to encapsulate the characters and their struggles through the last decade, and a fitting end was written for almost all the heroes and villains.
Robert Downey Jr.’s character 'Tony Stark' went from an arrogant billionaire to sacrificing himself for the sake of the universe. He met his demise at the end of 'Endgame,' and it was fitting to send off to the man who started the whole universe. Chris Evans’ 'Steve Rodgers' was a soldier out of his time, he was not meant to be here but he was none the less because when the time came to choose between himself and the people, he chose the people and at the end of 'Endgame,' Steve found peace and love with 'Peggy' and also got the dance he promised 'Peggy.'

But ''Endgame' wasn’t just the end for all the characters involved in the MCU; it was also the point of new beginnings for few characters. 'Falcon' was one of the characters whose story was always tied to 'Captain America,' but 'Endgame' changed the whole thing when Cap returned to the place where he time traveled from as an older man.
In the final moments of 'Endgame,' 'Steve' came back to talk to Falcon, and before he was done talking, he also gave his friend the shield of 'Captain America' so he can carry on the mantle of the super-soldier. Instead of giving it to his childhood friend, 'Bucky,' Cap gave the shield to a man who would’ve followed him even to hell.

Well, Chris Evans knew about the scene because he was one of the few actors in the final movie who were given a relatively full script for 'Avengers: Endgame.' Before the shield handover scene was even filmed, the 'Captain America' actor ruined the scene for Anthony Mackie.
The actor spilled the beans to Anthony, and it was hilarious when he found out about the scene. Chris Evans was on Fallon, and he spoke of how he let it slip about the scene, and Anthony was clueless about the whole thing. He said, “While we were filming in Atlanta, I had a few people over to watch football or something, and Mackie was the first one to show up. I didn’t know he didn’t know what was going to happen. I say, ‘Hey, man, isn’t that scene fantastic?’ and he said, ‘What scene?’ And I said, ‘The scene where I give you the shield!’ And he said, ‘You’re giving me the shield? And I said ‘Oh no.'”
Since the actor wasn’t in the know about the scene, Chris gave him the script and watched him read it. “So I ran to my room, and I got the scene and gave it to him, and I got to watch him read the scene for the first time where he’s getting the shield,” he explained. “And he was so happy, and you immediately feel like, ‘Man, maybe I robbed this moment, maybe [Marvel Studios president] Kevin Feige deserved this.’ But it was so nice to share it with him. He was so happy and so deserving. It was a nice way to have — just between us — the transition of characters.”
The scene was great in the movie, and it was probably even more heartwarming to see it between the two actors who became friends over multiple years of filming together. Anthony Mackie will now be seen in his own series, 'The Falcon and The Winter Soldier,' where he will be brandishing the shield when the series finds its way to Disney Plus in 2020.
