Bachelor Nation Alum JJ Lane Expecting Second Child, First With Wife Kayla Hughes
The second baby is due in summer 2022, J J Lane and Kayla Hughes announced!
Former Bachelorette star J J Lane is becoming a father for the second time, but for his wife Kayla Hughes, it will be a brand new experience. The happy couple took to their respective social media page to drop the happy news. "Won't be able to unwrap this present until July," Lane wrote on Instagram, sharing a sweet snap of the duo with his daughter, Gemma, from his previous marriage.
In the picture, the family of three can be seen posing in front of a Christmas tree at their home in Colorado. Gemma holds an ultrasound image of her soon-arriving little brother. Hughes, 38, reposted the same picture and wrote, "The best gift wasn't under the tree this year, Littlest Lane coming July 2022." Although the couple hasn't disclosed the sex of their baby, fans are suspecting it to be a boy, a conjecture based upon Hughes' use of boy emoji in her caption.

The couple received congratulatory messages from hundreds of fans and fellow Bachelor Nation stars. Jared Haibon commented, "Congrats, bro, so awesome," Tanner Tolbert, Jonathan Holloway, and Tenley Leopold also sent warm wishes. Lane and Hughes' upcoming baby has many fans anticipating possible favoritism between her and Lane's daughter. Kayla clapped back at a comment targeting her and defended her role as a stepmom.

"Thanks for your comment, but I 10000% disagree with you. We make sure she is a part [sic] of our family as if she was with us full time, and I love her as if she was my daughter because that's the right thing to do in my eyes," Hughes wrote. The soon-to-be mom further adds, "I will never replace her mom, and I think her mom is a great parent, 'it doesn't change the fact that she is our daughter whether she's at her mom's or under our roof."

Lane shares Gemma with his first wife, Heather Sands. He started dating Kayla in 2017 and tied the knots in February 2020. "I knew after the first month of dating that she was the one, but I also knew we couldn't rush in and needed to enjoy the dating stage of our relationship," the Bachelorette alum told People soon after he got engaged to Hughes.
