The Portugal captain appreciated the Iranian legend's courtesy on social media.
On Wednesday, one of the final matches of Group "F" between Portugal vs. France ended in a 2-2 draw. With the result, both the teams qualified for the Euro 2020 round of 16. But the match was historic for one man, Cristiano Ronaldo.
The 36-year-old footballer scored both Portugal's goals from the penalty spot, the last of which was his 109th for his country. In scoring those, he equaled Iran's Ali Daei's record for the world's all-time men's international goalscorer.

After he achieved that record, many congratulated the Portuguese, and one of those people was the legendary Iranian himself.
The 52-year-old wrote a congratulation post on his Instagram, which read:
"Congratulations to @cristiano who is now one goal away from breaking the men's international goal scoring record. I am honoured that this remarkable achievement will belong to Ronaldo - great champion of football and caring humanist who inspires and impacts lives throughout the world. Vamos!"
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner appreciated his counterpart's kind gesture, and he too expressed his delight and dedicated a post on his Instagram story. Ronaldo wrote:
"True champions remain champions forever. I'm very proud to read such kind words from a huge idol like you. Thank you, Ali Daei."
The Juventus forward's team will have a difficult task as they will meet Belgium in the knock-out stage of the competition.

The mercurial athlete will be hoping to help his team reach the next stage and possibly break Ali's record to become the sole king of international football.
