The writer of the fourth Indiana Jones movie is back with the franchise to get Indiana Jones 5 off the ground.

The writer of ‘Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull’ is back making the fifth Indiana movie. David Koepp is best known for his work in 'Jurassic Park', the first 'Mission Impossible' movie, the first 'Spider-Man' movie and also 'Mortdecai.'

The writer left the project in June of last year, and he was replaced by Jonathan Kasdan who only recently penned the 'Solo' movie for Lucasfilm and Disney. Through many stops and starts the film was still scheduled to head for shooting in April of 2019, but we are sitting now in September, and there is still no progress as it relates to the possibility of 'Indiana Jones 5.'

Koepp wrote a script for the movie in 2018, but the hierarchy at Disney was not happy with how it turned out and looked outside for help. But now it seems they are back to square one and trying to run it back with the same writer.

The confirmation of the writer rejoining the project came from David himself when he talked with the people over at Den of Geek. When asked about the possibility of Indy 5, he said, “I actually am again. I’m working on it again. We’re still trying. And I think we’ve got a good idea this time. We’ll see.”

The fourth Indiana Jones movie is probably the most hated movie out of the bunch, and to this day the shadow of the abysmal fourth movie haunts the once-beloved franchise. There were talks of a fifth movie back when Crystal Skull was released but the hate and the lack of interest warded of any potential backers.

In 2012 Disney swooped in and bought the rights to the production company, and people were quickly tasked to bring back Indiana Jones and Star Wars franchise. A greater amount of focus was put on Star Wars and bringing it back, and Indy was put on the back burner. There were even talks of an actor change when it comes to Indian Jones, but no one was interested in seeing another iconic character of Harrison Ford, chopped up and butchered to death.

There was confirmation Harrison will return to play the role, and the production date was even set, but like we all know the production date never came to pass because there was no script for the directors and actors to work with.

Now with Koepp back onboard, Disney is eyeing April 2020 as the start of production date and also placing their hopes on getting the movie ready by the time July 2021 rolls around when they are currently planning to release the film.

Harrison Ford will be too old to play the character if they delay the movie any longer.

Do whatever you need to do Disney, we are only here for Harrison Ford, so you better hurry up the man is 77 years old, and the window of opportunity of making the movie as realistic as possible is slipping fast. July 2021 is the release date for Indiana Jones 5 now, but we are not holding our breaths.
