Grimes Addresses Breakup with Elon Musk in a New Song

Grimes's new song addresses her high-profile break with Elon Musk: Exclusive report here!  

Grimes and Elon Musk have ended their nearly three years-long relationship, and now the Canadian musician has released a new song, which seemingly disses the Space X founder. Grimes, whose real name is Claire Elise Boucher, released Players of Gamers on December 3, through which she took a dig at Musk.  

"I'm in love with the greatest gamer," Grimes' lyrics read, presumably pointing at the world's richest man. The lyrics go, "but he'll always love the game more than he loves me. Sail away to the cold expanse of space; even love couldn't keep you in your place." Musk had his ambition and dedication for work as the reason behind their split.

In September, the Tesla founder gave a statement addressing his and Grimes' split. Musk said, "We are semi-separated but still love each other, see each other frequently and are on great terms." His statement further read, "It's mostly that my work at SpaceX and Tesla requires me to be primarily in Texas or traveling overseas and her work is primarily in LA. She's staying with me now, and Baby X is in the adjacent room."

After their split, the Oblivion singer released love, which took a jibe at paparazzi for scrutinizing and invading her personal space. Grimes said, "I wrote and produced this song this week in response to all the privacy invasion, bad press, online hate and harassment by paparazzi I've experienced this week."

Grimes and Musk started dating in May 2018. On May 4, 2020, she gave birth to Musk's son,  Æ A-12. Before Musk, Grimes dated Jaime Brooks, Majical Cloudz, and Devon Welsh. Elon was married to English actress Talulah Riley for six years. Musk shares the custody of his five kids with his ex-wife Justine Wilson.
