Elizabeth claimed to have developed a revolutionary blood-testing technology that could diagnose various medical conditions with just a few drops of blood. However, it was later revealed that her claims were largely fabricated, leading to criminal charges and legal proceedings. Holmes' story became a cautionary tale of corporate fraud and the dangers of unchecked ambition, ultimately resulting in a significant downfall for her and her company.

The once-revered Silicon Valley figure, now 39 years old, had previously been romantically involved with her former partner, Balwani. However, during the tumultuous downfall of her dubious empire, she met her current husband, Billy Evans. The couple's relationship quickly blossomed, leading them to secretly tie the knot in 2019.

Mother of Two Kids

Since their marriage in 2019, Evans and Holmes have resided in a luxurious $135 million mansion located in California. Their relationship has faced hurdles, notably a trial delay due to the birth of their child in 2020.

Throughout Holmes' legal troubles, Evans has remained a supportive partner. He attended her trial regularly, taking precautions to evade media attention by going incognito during the jury selection process.

Their first child was born on July 10, 2021, leading to a pause in Holmes' trial. The name of the child is William Holmes Evans. He was born in Redwood, California, United States. 

Reports indicate that their second baby was born on February 24, 2023. The second child's daughter's name is Invicta Holmes Evans. The couple has kept details about their children for their safety and privacy.

Who is Elizabeth Holmes's Husband, Billy Evans?

Currently, Billy Evans holds the position of special projects manager at Luminar Technologies. Luminar Technologies specializes in the development and production of lidar sensors and software for autonomous vehicles. The company, founded by Austin Russell in 2012, is headquartered in Orlando, Florida.

Prior to joining Luminar Technologies, Evans was involved in his family's business, the Evans Hotels Group. This family-owned enterprise operates four upscale resort hotels in San Diego, California, known for their prime oceanfront locations, top-notch amenities, and exceptional service. Evans' father, Bill Evans, serves as the CEO of the Evans Hotels Group. 

Love Life With Ex-Partner, Sunny Balwani

Elizabeth Holmes had a romantic relationship with technology entrepreneur Ramesh "Sunny" Balwani, who was originally from Pakistan but later immigrated to India and then the United States. 

They first met in 2002 while Holmes was participating in Stanford University's Mandarin program in Beijing. At the time, Holmes was 18 years old and had recently graduated from high school, while Balwani, who was 19 years her senior, was married to someone else.

In 2003, Holmes dropped out of university, and she and Balwani began a romantic relationship. They moved in together in 2005, even though Balwani did not officially join Theranos, the company Holmes founded, until 2009 when he became the chief operating officer. 

However, he had been advising Holmes behind the scenes since the company's inception. As they ran the company together, they fostered a corporate culture characterized by secrecy and fear, as reported by employees.

Did Sunny Balwani Rape Elizabeth Holmes?

During her testimony on November 29, 2021, Elizabeth Holmes revealed that she had been sexually assaulted while she was a student at Stanford University. She disclosed that she turned to Sunny Balwani for support in the aftermath of the incident. 

Holmes further testified that her romantic relationship with Balwani, which lasted over a decade, was characterized by his controlling behavior. She stated that he would belittle and sexually abuse her at times, expressing a desire to transform her into a different person.

However, Holmes also clarified that Balwani did not coerce her into making false statements to investors, business partners, journalists, or company directors, as alleged in the case against her. Balwani has vehemently denied the allegations of abuse, stating that they are false and inflammatory in court filings.

Elizabeth Holmes Serving Over Eleven Years in Prison

On June 15, 2018, Elizabeth Holmes and Sunny Balwani, former executives of Theranos, were indicted on nine counts of wire fraud and two counts of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. Holmes pleaded not guilty and stepped down as CEO but remained as the board chair.

The trial began on August 31, 2021, after multiple delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Holmes' pregnancy. She testified for seven days, claiming she was misled by her staff and influenced by Balwani during their romantic relationship. 

On January 3, 2022, Holmes was found guilty on four counts of defrauding investors but not guilty on four counts of defrauding patients. She was sentenced to 11+1/4 years in prison, fined $400, and ordered to pay $452 million in restitution. Holmes surrendered to custody on May 30, 2023.
