Jeff Bezos and his wife, MacKenzie Bezos are now officially divorced, three months after initially filing for divorce. A Seattle-area judge finalized the decision on Friday, as reported by Bloomberg.
With the settlement, MacKenzie will now become third richest women in the world, with roughly over $38 billion in her bank account. She will retain 4% stake in the online shopping giants. She also handed Jeff all the voting rights of her shares as well. MacKenzie maintained, "to support his continued contributions with the teams of these incredible companies."
Now many of you might be wondering as to where the settlement left Jeff in the world richest list, well, we assure you, he is still the richest man in the world.
The Amazon CEO still has 75% of company stock along with several other ventures such as The Washington Post.
Back in May, MacKenzie signed the 'Giving Pledge' and decided to donate half of her money to charity. With this signing, she became one of the 200 Philanthropists who decided to give away their money for charitable causes.
"My approach to philanthropy will continue to be thoughtful. It will take time and effort and care. But I won’t wait. And I will keep at it until the safe is empty."
Speaking of their children's custody, the couple has recently filed a parenting plan and would like to co-parent their children.
The couple who were married since 1993 and has four children, three boys and one daughter adopted from China.
While their divorce happened in a pretty smooth manner, the couple faced lots of ups and downs before filing. Everything started when Jeff's flirtatious texts to news anchor Lauren Sanchez came to the public eye. They are dating from earlier this year, as per the reports.
Ever since Jeff and MacKenzie' separation, he is spending a lot of time with his girlfriend and if reports are to be believed, the duo might get married soon.
