Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Justin Mikita Announces Baby No.2

Jesse Tyler Ferguson of 'Modern Family' is expecting his second child with partner Justin Mikita: Exclusive story here!  

Jesse Tyler Ferguson, 44, and his husband of nearly nine years, lawyer Justin Mikita, 36, are gearing up to be parents for the second time. Referencing the timing of their happy news, overlapping with the aftershock of the recent heartbreaking Uvalde mass shooting that left 19 children dead, Ferguson said, "There is a lot of really horrible stuff going on in the world right now, so Justin and I wanted to share a little bit of good news with you."  

"We are expanding our family," said the Modern Family star in a clip he shared on Instagram. The actor and lawyer duo welcomed their firstborn, Beckett, 1, via surrogacy in July 2020. "Jesse and Justin welcomed their little bundle of joy Beckett Mercer Ferguson-Mikita on July 7, 2020," a rep for the couple said at the time, adding, "The new parents are overjoyed and excited for this new journey as a family of three."

Hinting at the due date of his second baby, the Take Me Out actor said, "Beckett will become a big brother this fall."The twosome hasn't revealed the gender of their upcoming child but is eagerly looking forward to meeting their newborn. In an interview earlier this year, Ferguson shared how he treasures even the little moments with his one-year-old son.

"I'm surprised at how unaffected I am when he vomits on me," said the actor. Ferguson further shares, "I can be in a bad mood and seeing him super excited, kicking and smiling, it just immediately lifts my spirits. It's so pure and sweet. And it gives me so much joy."

Jesse rose to fame as a theatre actor and became a household name, playing Mitchell Pritchett, a gay man, alongside Eric Stonestreet (Cameron Tucker). Ferguson met his now-husband Mikita during his early days in Modern Family. The pair started dating in late 2010 and together lobbied for the legalization of gay marriage.

Ferguson and Mikita's relentless effort, including their nonprofit Tie the Knot, a bow tie retail to fund same-sex marriage, reaped results when the governor Pat Quinn signed the bill into law. Ferguson was later appointed as the celebrity ambassador for the LGBT community by American Civil Liberties Union. The duo announced their engagement in September 2012 and walked down the aisle on July 10, 2013.
