Little Mix's Perrie Edwards Is Engaged!

After almost six years together, English songstress Perrie Edwards, 28, and her football player boyfriend Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are finally set to marry. The Little Mix singer took to her Instagram recently and dropped the happy news to her 15.3 million followers.  

Sharing a series of dreamy pictures, Alex, 28, can be seen getting down on his knees on a beach at sunset; Perrie wrote, "Last night the love of my life got down on one knee and I said yes."The string of pics also revealed Edwards' massive sparkling engagement ring. Fellow stars and fans have since taken on Edwards' comment section, showering the smitten pair with best wishes.

Chamberlain posted the same picture on his handle with the caption, "Mrs. Oxlade-Chamberlain to be!"

Although the loved-up twosome has been dating for a long time, the pair's engagement is not their first milestone in the journey of a lifetime. Last year, the X-Factor alum and the Liverpool midfielder welcomed a son. "Welcome to the world baby 21/08/21," the Little Mix star wrote while sharing a black and white picture of son Axel.

Edwards, a native of South Shields, is a member of one of the world's best-selling girl groups, Little Mix, consisting of Thirlwall, Perry, and Pinnock. Originally a four-member group, Jesy Nelson departed the pack in 2020. Edwards' fiance, Chamberlain, a native of Portsmouth, has been playing as a midfielder for Liverpool since 2017. He has previously played for Arsenal and Southhampton.  

The Brit couple were first linked in 2016, a year after Edwards ended things with fellow X-Factor alum and One direction fame Zayn Malik, with whom she was engaged for almost two years. Edwards and Chamberlain made their relationship official in January 2017.

"Perrie wants to keep her lovelife private and also doesn't want to be regarded as a stereotypical football WAG," a source then said about the duo's beginning stage of romance. "Alex fully supports her as he too wants to be known as a footballer, not dating a pop star," the source added.

But despite the insider's claims about keeping her relationship out of the spotlight, it wasn't long before Perrie debuted her new flame to the world. Sharing a snapshot of the couple kissing, Edwards captions, "Him." Edwards' relationship with Alex has been a smooth, low-profile journey, unlike her four-year-long excessively covered relationship with Malik.  

Edwards famously dated Malik after the duo met on the sets of X-Factor. After over a year of dating, Perry and the Pillowtalk hitmaker announced their engagement in 2013. Edwards later revealed in Little Mix's book, Our World, that Zayn broke up with her via text. "Four-year relationship, two year engagement ended by a simple text message. Just like that," the singer's excerpt from the book read.
