On the evening of December 19, a surgical team performed a lengthy procedure to repair his damaged heart. Unfortunately, shortly after the surgery, in the early morning hours of December 20, 1973, Darin passed away in the recovery room without regaining consciousness. 

At the time of his death, he was only thirty-seven years old. Bobby Darin's final wish, as stated in his will, was to donate his body to science for medical research. On the other hand, his mother Sandra experienced kidney disease and required kidney dialysis for the last four years of her life.

Later the actress passed away on February 20, 2005. The complications arising from her kidney disease led to her death at the Los Robles Hospital & Medical Center in Thousand Oaks, California. She was 62 years old at the time of her passing.
