Rick Ross Is Preparing To Release Port Of Miami 2

After 13 years, Rick Ross is bringing a sequel to his debut album, Port of Miami.

The former correctional officer made his debut in 2006 with the song ‘Hustlin’ which resulted in a bidding war, and Rick Ross signed with Jay-Z's record label Def Jam Records. It was the same year he released the first album of his career, 'Port of Miami', under the label. The rapper since then carved a 14-year long career after the record, but it seems Ross is taking a trip down memory lane with the upcoming sequel for Port of Miami.

'Rozay' is all set to release his tenth album, and he titled the record Port of Miami 2 a call back to the record which started his career. The album is a follow up to the 2017 hit record Rather You Than Me which featured the Birdman diss track 'Idol Become Rivals.'

Rick Ross took to Instagram to announce the arrival of the tenth album. In a video posted on the social media site, Rick says, “I sat in a room alone, no television, no music, I just listened to my heartbeat. Are you just standing there, or does your heartbeat? Was you meant to die? Did you want to live, or was you born to kill? Listen to my heart, beat.”

In the video, the 'Teflon Don' is being baptized as a priest stands behind him and slowly lowers him in the water. To announce the release the Maybach Music head honcho said, “Port of Miami started me on this journey. It’s only right I bring it back to where it all started. For my day ones to the new ones, this album is for you. Tenth studio album. Get ready. Ride with me. It’s time.”

Rick Ross released three singles to support the album with 'Act a Fool' and 'Big Tyme' acting as the lead singles from the album. He also recently released a collaboration with Drake titled 'Gold Roses', the smooth track is sure to make some moves at the Billboard Hot 100. Ross reciprocated the Drake feature on the recently released surprise compilation album by the OVO Sounds founder. Rick appeared in the track 'Free Spirit' with his signature heavy voice and ad-libs.

Rozay also recently made available the tracklist for the album with 15 tracks making up the album. Like with every Rick Ross album there are a plethora of A-list artists making a guest appearance on the record. The late Nipsey Hussle, Meek Mill, aforementioned Drake, Swizz Beatz, Wale, Teyana Taylor, Denzel Curry, and A Boogie wit da Hoodie are making an appearance on the album.

The rapper also released the cover art for the album which was also a play on the rapper’s original work in Port of Miami. The cover shows Rick holding a pendant with a picture of his manager and friend Black Bo, who died on December 2017.

The tenth album in the rapper’s catalog is coming on 9 August 2019. Rick who rapped, “Over a decade and never nobody's favorite,” in the hit song 'What’s Free' by Meek Mill, will be looking to cement his legacy with an album which will highlight his career.

It is a problem Rick Ross faced his entire career because he doesn’t hold a seminal album which defines his whole career like say, 'Food & Liquor' does for Lupe Fiasco. With this particular record, Rick will probably be looking to shed some of those narratives which hounded him all his career and cement his legacy as one of hip-hop’s greats.

Also, after the toned down 'Mayback Music V' in his ninth album, Rick is bringing some heavy hitters, namely, Lil Wayne and Pusha T to headline the Maybach Music VI track. With the way the album is shaping out to be and the sound of the early material points to a great album coming from Ross. We hope for nothing but the best, and we are ready for 9 August.
