Manchester City defender Ruben Dias has been named Premier League Player of the Year for his impressive performance in the 2020/21 campaign.

The center back expressed his happiness and thanked everyone who voted for him through his Instagram. He also told fans that to do it all over again in the new season.
The former Benfica player picked up the award over his teammate Kevin De Bruyne and other Premier League players Bruno Fernandes, Jack Grealish, Harry Kane, Mason Mount, Mohamed Salah, and Thomas Soucek.
The 24-year-old defender is the first defender in 32 years. The last defender to win the award was Liverpool legend Steve Nicol in 1989. Recently, Ruben was given the Sky Blues Player of the Year as well.
In his 32 league appearances, Dias helped his team to 15 clean sheets and made 35 interceptions, 24 tackles, 23 blocks, and 135 recoveries. In the entirety of the season, City conceded the least amount of goals, 32.

Alongside Diaz, his Manager Pep Guardiola won the Manager of the Season, and teammate Phil Foden claimed Young Player of the Season.
