Musician Amy Rigby who was performing alongside David revealed everything as to how he passed away. According to her, David was in the middle of his third song when he all of a sudden he decided to take a break and closed his eyes.
She ended her statement saying, "I just want the picture to be as graceful and dignified as it was, because it at first looked like he was just taking a moment."
He sat still with his guitar on and after some time Scott Miller then jumped in saying, 'We needed to revive him.'
David is a big name in the folk-rock and Americana music community. Throughout his career, he released 20 albums.
His songs were generally covered by Country Music Hall of Fame members, Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris, Del McCoury and Steve Young.
Scott Miller, who was also present at the stage expressed his deepest condolences to his family and said,
“Last night we lost David Olney, one of the finest songwriters I have had the pleasure of playing with and knowing. When I did my first show with him ( maybe 5-6 years ago) my friend Robin Williams said, ‘Oh, you are in for a treat’ and indeed I was. What a force. What a writer.”
David is survived by his two kids, Lillian and Redding and wife, Regine.
