The Crown Season 4 Filming is Underway; First Look at Gillian Anderson as Margaret Thatcher

The first look of Gillian Anderson as Margaret Thatcher was made public.

Last time we got an update from the upcoming season of 'The Crown' on Netflix was on 20 September 2019 when a short 30-second clip was made public, which showed the new Queen in action. Since then, there is radio silence, and we are still without a trailer for season three of 'The Crown.'

But while we await the release of the third season of the beloved series, which is on 17 November 2019 by the way, there is some news to get to about the fourth season of 'The Crown.' It seems the filming on the show is underway, and we are getting our first look at Gillian Anderson as the Iron Lady, Margaret Thatcher.

Gillian Anderson was hired to play the former Prime Minister of the UK in the fourth season of the series, and the first image we see from the set of the show is the actress in a royal blue dress, with the distinctive hair held together with clips and wearing black shoes with a black handbag. In the image, she is seen walking down the plank in what is thought to be the Royal image; she is seen walking down the plank in what is thought to be the Royal Yacht Britannica.

The actress looks perfect for the role, melding in with the character she is playing and looking like a young Margaret Thatcher. The show will look at the relationship between the Queen and the Prime Minister as they lock horn on the apartheid in South Africa and also complication at home.

Newly released documents stated the Queen was furious at the then Prime Minister because she refused to back the sanctions on the racist apartheid regime of the South African government. The fourth season of the series will probably take place between the 80s and 90s, which is the time when Thatcher was in power and will show the battle between the two strong ladies.

Gillian Anderson is up to the task, and she spoke about her excitement in joining the cast of the series. “I am so excited to be joining the cast and crew of 'The Crown' and to have the opportunity to portray such a complicated and controversial woman,” Gillian said after she was hired. “Thatcher was undoubtedly formidable, but I am relishing exploring beneath the surface and, dare I say, falling in love with the icon who, whether loved or despised, defined an era.”

The appearance of Emma Corrin was also revealed, and the resemblance to Princess Diana is uncanny. Emma also spoke of her nervousness and excitement at portraying such an influential character. “I have been glued to the show since the first episode, and to think I'm now joining this incredibly talented acting family is just surreal. Princess Diana was an icon, and her effect on the world remains profound and inspiring,” Emma said. “To be given the chance to explore her through Peter Morgan's writing is the most exceptional opportunity, and I will strive to do her justice!”

The third season of 'The Crown' is less than a month away now, with all episodes being available on the streaming platform on 17 November 2019.
