The Pilot Episode Of Game Of Thrones Prequel Completes Filming
Game of Throne prequel is coming as the pilot episode finished filming.
We are like drug fiends when it comes to Game of Thrones, season seven was Okay, and it was disguised as a great season on the surface level; we got excited and came back for season eight. Then we almost OD’ed on the mediocrity of season eight, and still, we will go back to watch the prequel series. That is how much we are hooked on the series, and the world created by George R. R. Martin.
Well, whether we like it or not, Game of Thrones prequel is getting more real by the day. New reports suggest the pilot for the prequel series finished filming in Belfast, and it is getting fast-tracked by the premium cable channel. We know the prequel is based on the time before the seven kingdoms as GRRM said before, “if you go back further then there are nine kingdoms and 12 kingdoms, and eventually you get back to where there are a hundred kingdoms — petty kingdoms — and that’s the era we’re talking about here.”
HBO programming president talked about the possibility of more Game of Thrones shows back in February. He said;
It's a great world and great IP. We're going to do the pilot, see how it goes. Is it possible we do another one? Maybe. But I don't want HBO to become a network that airs just Game of Thrones or Game of Thrones prequels. It should be said that Game of Thrones has been an incredible show for us but what we're doing is a much more diversified slate so that we're not in a position that we have to get the Game of Thrones franchise up and running or the lights are going out at HBO. That is not the situation, and it never has been.
Well, now that the filming on the pilot is finished Bloys said they would look at the pilot and see the reaction before ordering a full season. But if early reports are to be believed, then the show is really good as Bloys himself said, “It looks really good. The cast was amazing.”
The prequel is most probably coming as HBO heads obviously like the pilot episode. The show which is set to premiere in 2020 is set to film even more episodes to fill a whole series order.
Game of Thrones ended it's eight-season run with the underwhelming season eight where the forced plot twists just to shock the audiences was panned by fans and critics and everyone in between.
Watch: The trailer for the hated final season of Game of Thrones
The hate for the season grew so much as fans even started a petition to have the final season remade with different writers. The Daenerys plot twist was really the last thing which pushed the fans over the edge as she went all pyro without any particular reason after the creators saying since 2014 that she is a good Targaryen.
Even with all the hate and anger, the series was still nominated for the best 32 Emmy Awards, most ever by a TV show, including best writing for episode six (talk about a joke).
Bloys said the backlash was not a factor in making Game of Thrones prequel as they regarded the criticism as enthusiasm by fans for the world created by GRRM. He said, “There are very, very few downsides to having a hugely popular show. One I can think of is when you try to end it, many people have opinions on how it should end ... I think it just comes with the territory.”
The premiere date for the prequel series is not specified yet, but the pilot finished filming, and it seems the cast and crew will continue working in Belfast for more episodes as it seems HBO is moving forward with the show.
