The death of ‘The Bachelorette’ contestant Tyler Gwozdz came as a shock to many. He died in January at just 29, and now his cause of death had finally found its way over to the internet!
After at least a week in the hospital with a significant health scare since January 13, the reality TV star from ‘The Bachelorette’ was pronounced dead with a possible drug overdose in Boca Raton, Florida. A woman notified the paramedics who told them that Tyler Gwozdz had locked himself in a bathroom, which she was eventually able to open.
A recording of the actual call confirmed that the caller also mentioned that heroin might have caused the suspected overdose. But now, according to documents obtained by E! News, the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner in Florida listed his death an accident as a result of opioid toxicity (heroin). The lack of admission specimens made it hard for the examiners to pin the exact cause, but heroin overdose fit the description the closest.

The examiner stated, “Given this information and a lack of admission specimens for testing his death is best classified as Opioid Toxicity (Heroin). It is possible that the offending agent could have been a different substance than heroin. However, given the circumstances it is best classified as such. If additional information becomes available in the future, it will be evaluated, and if needed the cause of death amended.”
After being found unresponsive at the scene, the Boca Raton Police Services Department responded to the 911 call made on January 13 at around 10:45 a.m. In the actual recording, the woman can be heard saying, “I think my friend overdosed, and he won’t wake up.”
Eventually making her way into the bathroom, she found Tyler lying on his side and turned him to his back with instructions from the dispatcher. Finally, taken to the hospital, Gwozdz died nine days later on January 22.
The 29-year-old ‘Bachelorette’ contestant, vied for Hannah Brown’s heart on Season 15 of the reality dating show. In his time on the program, Gwozdz went on a one-on-one date with the former pageant queen and received a rose. However, he mysteriously left the show after the third week.

After his passing, Tyler’s family set up a charity in his name to help those fighting addiction problems. The statement in the GoFund page reads,
The devastation and heartbreak caused by addiction are, unfortunately, becoming a reality for too many families across the United States as the epidemic of this disease continues to spread. That is why we are establishing the Tyler A. Gwozdz Foundation, a charitable organization created to increase local education on the disease of addiction and to support and finance addiction recovery programs.
The victim’s family hopes that the foundation will help lessen the burden of addiction for families like theirs in the future.
