Britney Spears Checks Into Health Facility For Self-Care

Pop star Britney Spears is taking care of her mental health.

Britney Spears is likely to be away for 30 days as she takes time to care for herself. Recently, she was supporting her father and the rest of her family through his recent health struggles. This included a second surgery merely three weeks ago.

The pop icon wrote on Instagram, "We all need to take a little 'me time,'" alongside an image that reads "Fall in love with taking care of yourself, mind, body, spirit." It is understood Jamie Spears' illness, a 'life-threatening' colon rupture that required two surgeries, took a toll on his daughter.

A source stated:

"He’s not doing well. They’re so close and it has been a lot. There is nothing dramatic going on with her — she just realized she needs to make sure to take time to care for herself."

Earlier, TMZ painted a more intense picture as they reported Britney Spears was distraught over her dad’s health and she subsequently decided to stay at a mental health facility for a month.

A source allegedly close to the family said:

"Britney hasn’t been drinking or doing drugs or anything, she just has some very difficult emotional and mental health issues. She’s gone away to try with her issues before they get worse."

Late last year, the singer put her planned Vegas show “Domination” on hold after her dad’s colon spontaneously ruptured and he spent a month in the hospital.

At the time on Instagram, Spears said: "I’ve been looking forward to this show and seeing all of you this year, so doing this breaks my heart. However, it’s important to always put your family first… and that’s the decision I had to make. A couple of months ago, my father was hospitalized and almost died."

The 'Toxic' hitmaker added, "We’re all so grateful that he came out of it alive, but he still has a long road ahead of him. I had to make the difficult decision to put my full focus and energy on my family at this time."

Ever since 2008, Jamie Spears acted as Britney’s conservator following the pop singer's public mental-health meltdown. Britney unsurprisingly began to do much better both professionally and personally.

Later in 2012, Spears’ former fiance, Jason Trawick, was a co-conservator for a while, back when the couple was engaged. However, he was taken off the roster in January 2013 following their split.
