Daybreak season 2 is not happening anymore, Netflix is done after the first season of the unique show.
'Daybreak' was a unique experience for the people who took the time to watch the ten episodes in the first season. There are repetitive themes in the show when it comes to the post-apocalyptic genre, but no series or movie can be a totally original experience. Still, 'Daybreak' made the best of the tropes of the genre to tell a fresh story with an amazing finale.
But now it seems the explosive ending of the first season and the twist at the end will not be realized in the second season of 'Daybreak.' Word just came saying Netflix is not picking the show up for a second season, which is a real shame considering how with each episode, the series was getting better and better.

'Daybreak' is about a post-apocalyptic Greendale, California, where students from the local school survive a nuclear attack. The chemicals in the bombs only affect adults, and most reports state the explosions happened everywhere, and the parents either turned into liquid or flesh-eating monsters.
After the adults are gone, the kids take over the social status quo at the school dictates the clan people join, and there is a constant battle between the teenagers of different factions. The story follows Josh, who is searching for his girlfriend, and also two other kids, one a girl he used to babysit and the others who used to bully him in school.

Together they look to survive in the new world and also help 'Josh' find his lost girlfriend. This is the premise of the whole first season, where we are introduced to numerous heroes and villains, and then the final ends in a big bang with a major twist, and a familiar face becomes the villain of the series.
It was an interesting prospect thinking of the character as the villain, and we were looking forward to seeing how Josh and his friends are going to cope with the new hierarchy. But it seems Netflix is not interested in bringing back the series for a second season after the creators of the show made it clear Daybreak season 2 is not happening.

One of the co-creators of the show, Aron Coleite, wrote on Twitter, “I don't even know how to say this, so we prepared a small statement. Love you all. Thank you!” Then he gave a statement where he thanked the fans for allowing them to tell the story and enjoying the show they made.
According to the statement, “We learned last week that Daybreak will not be returning for a second season. We’re so sorry we couldn’t share it with you sooner but also grateful that we got to hang out in these last few live tweet sessions with all of you. Thank you for picking up what we put down, for running with it in all of your amazing, weird, monstrous ways and for being such an important part of this show and our experience making it. No one is as heartbroken as we are that we can’t share more of this ride with you. But we’re so grateful to have gotten to bring it this far.”

The cast of the show is huge, and the setting is also a massive undertaking, the streaming service definitely incurred massive expenditure for the show and the viewers were there, but there was just not enough positive response from the ones who watched the show, to warrant a second season renewal.

We loved the first season of 'Daybreak' and especially the explosive finale revelation of the new villain. There was definitely more story to be told, but for the people who want to know more about the world of 'Daybreak,' they will need to buy the comics and read how the story ends. The show is not coming back on Netflix, which is definitely a shame.
