'Downton Abbey' Returns With A Second Season
Downton Abbey 2 Officially Announced: Who's Set To Join The Cast And More!
Co-written and created by Julian Fellowes, a sequel to Downton Abbey 2019 film has been announced. The film was a spin-off to the original 2011-2016 series.
Focus Features made the big announcement this Monday and also added that the sequel's theatrical release would happen on Christmas 2021, hopefully.
Downton Abbey 2 is slated to release on Christmas 2021.

According to sources, the original cast will be returning, and joining the principal casts are Hugh Dancy, Laura Haddock, Nathalie Baye, and Dominic West. Fellowes will once again write the screenplay and produce it along with Gareth Neame and Liz Trubridge, while BAFTA winner Simon Curtis is set to be the director.

The film, set in 1927, is about the good old English system, and it revolves around the Crawley family and a royal visit to the family that entangles and unravels the whole plot. The film had made $200 million globally in 2019 and is anticipated for more this time.
Joining the original casts are actors like Hugh Dancy, Dominic West, and more.

The film's producer Neame expressing her excitement, said, “After a very challenging year with so many of us separated from family and friends, it is a huge comfort to think that better times are ahead and that next Christmas we will be reunited with the much-beloved characters of Downton Abbey."
