An unfamiliar name for sports enthusiasts probably, Richard Bland is not some amateur. In fact, the guy has been in the course, flinging shots since 1996. In 1998, Bland earned his card on the Challenge Tour. And more importantly, he is co-leading the U.S open along with Russel Henley.  

Born in Burton Upon Trent, he is a 48-year-old English golfer. Bland has been playing for the European Tours for nearly 20 years, but he only recently earned his first Tour victory. Bland is now the oldest player winner on the European Tour. Ahead is detail intel on Bland's conjugal life. 

Bland's Girlfriend Turned Wife!   

Bland's unlikely victory at the Torrey Pines golf course not only ascended him to the top of the leaderboard but has also brought a lot of attention to his personal life. And we've found, his romantic life isn't flourishing so well either.

Bland was once married to Caroline Bland, 'nee Geere.' Sources suggest the couple tied the knots in 2005, after few years of dating. Richard, who had a hard time finding his footing as a notable golfer, didn't attract any headlines on his love life until recently. The couple called it quit in 2010.

Bland and Caroline didn't have any kids in the 5 years span that they were married. The couple kept their relationship away from the media from the beginning till the end. But before things went downhill for the couple, they, too, had gushy times in their relationship.   

 "She's a calming presence," said the then newly wedded Richard Bland.

Richard had once candidly admitted to the positive changes Caroline had brought in his life. "She's a calming presence, I used to go out for a few drinks with the lads, now I prefer to be home with her. My party days are over," Richard told Daily Echo in 2015.

Bland in Tears after his Landmark victory!  

Bland finally won his first tournament after the 478th attempt. Daily Mail dubbed the moment as fairytale victory, and rightly so. Not only did Richard cried tears of joy, but his parents too shared the same emotion. Bland's coach, Tim Barter, was also spotted choking up.   

 Bland became the oldest player to win the Tour and took home the first prize, £290,000.

In 2019, and several times before that, bland had lost his card on the Tour, but he never quit. And now the 48-year-old golfer has his name scribed on the prestigious trophy, alongside iconic players like Bobby Locke and Peter Thomson, Seve Ballesteros, and a few more.

Richard earned The Betfred British Masters title after he beat Italian Guido Migliozzi in the play-off and claimed the £290,000 first prize. “My parents and a load of family and friends celebrating my win, but I’d said I was drained and I’d catch up with them again to celebrate," said Bland after the nerve-wracking game and emotional victory.
