Idris Elba Steps Out in London After Recovering from Coronavirus
Idris Elba steps out in London for the first time after healing from COVID-19.
Idris Elba, who confirmed he had contracted the rapidly-spreading novel coronavirus in March, was seen back in London after being quarantined in New Mexico previously. The star, 47, donned a beanie on the streets with a simple black shirt and jeans.
Back in March, the actor revealed both he and his wife Sabrina Dhowre tested positive for COVID-19; however, both were asympotamic and doing fine.
The Wire star said, “We’ve passed the quarantine period but we’re a little bit stuck in limbo. We can’t get a flight back home.”
Elba whose doctor claimed he's immune to the virus added, “We just have to sit still for a little bit. Other than that, we’re OK, and we’re so thankful for that. I think the worst of it has probably passed.”
“It’s weird because I never sit still, Sabrina never sits still either and I think she’s finding it harder. She’s getting cabin fever,” continued the actor.
Earlier, Elba announced he and Dhowre were self-isolating together in New Mexico. The husband and wife duo sat down remotely in March with Oprah Winfrey for the first installment of her latest show "Oprah Talks COVID-19," which can be viewed on Apple TV+ for free.
Dhowre expressed making the choice to travel out to be with her husband, even after hearing he was possibly contagious.
Sabrina said, “As soon as I heard that Idris was potentially exposed, I mean, I was on my way anyway, I wanted to be with him. I think that’s an instinct as a wife. You just want to go and take care.”

Dhowre added, “We didn’t change the way we interacted. I could have made a decision to put myself maybe in a separate room or stay away, and I’m sure that people are making those decisions that are tough decisions to make. But I made the decision to be with him and still touch him."
