Hailed as one of the best current baseball players, Jacob deGrom left no stone unturned against Milwaukee Brewers in July. But just when fans were exuberant to watch deGrom break another record in the All-Star Game, the New York Mets ace announced he wouldn't participate in the game.  

deGrom cited, he needs a break and wants to spend some quality time with his family, consisting of his wife and their two adorable children. Jacob deGrom's initial experience in fatherhood wasn't a pleasant one. After almost two years of marrying Stacey, the couple was blessed with their first child, a son, on April 11, 2016. But, it was soon revealed that their newborn, Jaxon Anthony deGrom, had to be kept in the hospital because of a health scare.

Doctors deemed the scare as apnea, and baby deGrom was moved to the neonatal intensive- care unit. An anxious Jacob told the New York Post, "You never want to see your child like that, it was rough." The Mets ace and his wife were allowed to take their baby home a few days later.

deGrom shared a snap of his newborn on father's day. He wrote, "I was born on a Father’s Day, and my first Father’s Day is my birthday. I don’t really want [presents]. I am just happy to have my family up here with me." At just 9 weeks old, deGrom would bring his son Citi Field.

The couple welcomed their daughter Aniston Grace in February 2018. Because of the complications with his first child, Jacob's anxiety before the birth of his second was clear. The player was stuck to his phone all day at the Mets complex. Jacob said he hopes he can be the kind of dad to his kids that his own father was to him.

"I'm just going to take that time and spend it with my family and get healthy for the second half," said deGrom in a statement as he announced he wouldn't be playing in All-Star Game. deGrom owns a house in Rockville Centre, but the Mets pitcher lives with his beautiful family in their chic Manhattan apartment.  

 deGrom will not participate in the upcoming All-star Game.

deGrom and Stacey have been married for almost seven years; the duo tied the knot on November 8, 2014, but their relationship goes way back. deGrom met his now-wife after graduating from high school. The pair dated for seven years before getting engaged in 2013.

deGrom is a four-time All-Star select, two-time Rookie of the month, Rookie of the year, and one two-time strikeout leader. In April, he set a record for most strikeouts against the Washington Nationals. In July, deGrom attained his 1500th career strikeout against Brewers' Willy Adames.
