Actor James McAvoy confirms his secret marriage to Lisa Liberati: Complete story here!
Best known for portraying Charles Xavier in the X-Men franchise, James McAvoy is a Scottish actor who recently put a long-speculated rumor about his personal life to rest. McAvoy was rumored to be secretly married to personal assistant Lisa Liberati in 2019, speculation he vehemently denied until recently.
McAvoy was born on August 21, 1979, in Glasgow, Scotland. He made his acting at the age of 15 in the 1995 film The Near Room and later starred in Out in the Open and Wimbledon. The actor has been married once before and even shares a son with his ex-wife. Ahead is a look inside McAvoy's relationship history and his newly-revealed conjugal life with Liberati.
James McAvoy confirms his secret marriage!
McAvoy, 42, was already a renowned star with credits in X-Men: First Class, X-Men: Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocalypse, and The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby, when he was cast to star as Kevin Wendell Crumb in M. Night Shyamalan'sSplit, a thriller project that turned romantic for McAvoy when he met Lisa, a production assistant to Shyamalan.

The Sun then reported that the Scottish actor and Liberati, a native of Philadelphia, started seeing each other after months of working together in the thriller. The X-Men actor was in an unhappy marriage with his now ex-wife Anne-Marie Duff at the time, and the former spouses were undergoing rocky marriage when James started a romantic venture with Lisa.
"James and Lisa are having a lot of fun together and behave like a pair of lovestruck teenagers when they are together," an insider reported about the new lovebirds. But before James's name was romantically linked with the Oscar-nominated director's assistant, he was also briefly rumored to have dated his X Men: Apocalypse co-star Alexandra Ship. But McAvoy seemingly chose Lisa over Ship.

While talking about his current role, Cyrano de Bergerac, a character James is set to reprise since he first played it on stage in 2019, McAvoy casually unveils the long-suspected relationship with Liberati. The actor's statement, however, contradicts the sources of the time who claimed they started seeing each other in months. McAvoy says he and Lisa started dating after years and recently got married.

Needless to say, the Scottish actor's big revelation has sprouted Liberati's name in the headlines and has endowed a provisional form of fame. Previously an assistant to Shyamalan, Liberati is reportedly working as a social media manager at the moment. The X-Men star says Philidelphia feels like a second home to him since his nuptial with Lisa.
James McAvoy's past relationships!
Almost all of McAvoy's known relationships seemingly started from movie sets. McAvoy was married to English actress Marie Duff, his co-star on comedy-drama Shameless. A year after the show ended in 2006, McAvoy and Duff married in an intimate ceremony. They welcomed a son, Brendan, in 2010 and announced their divorce in May 2016.

"It is with tremendous sadness that we have come to the decision to divorce," the former couple's joint statement read. "We enter this next phase with continued friendship, love and respect for one another and the shared focus of caring for our son." The pair further added. While the duo was married for over a decade, they kept their personal life away from the spotlight.
McAvoy and Duff are reportedly in an amicable relationship since their split. The former couple even reunited as colleagues on the 2019 fantasy drama His Dark Material. McAvoy admitted to crushing hard on his co-star Alana Brady during his early days in the industry. But the feelings were not reciprocated.
