Night Shyamalan's Split, a thriller project that turned romantic for McAvoy when he met Lisa, a production assistant to Shyamalan.

The Sun then reported that the Scottish actor and Liberati, a native of Philadelphia, started seeing each other after months of working together in the thriller. The X-Men actor was in an unhappy marriage with his now ex-wife Anne-Marie Duff at the time, and the former spouses were undergoing rocky marriage when James started a romantic venture with Lisa.

"James and Lisa are having a lot of fun together and behave like a pair of lovestruck teenagers when they are together," an insider reported about the new lovebirds. But before James's name was romantically linked with the Oscar-nominated director's assistant, he was also briefly rumored to have dated his X Men: Apocalypse co-star Alexandra Ship. But McAvoy seemingly chose Lisa over Ship.

While talking about his current role, Cyrano de Bergerac, a character James is set to reprise since he first played it on stage in 2019, McAvoy casually unveils the long-suspected relationship with Liberati. Almost all of McAvoy's known relationships seemingly started from movie sets. McAvoy was married to English actress Marie Duff, his co-star on comedy-drama Shameless. A year after the show ended in 2006, McAvoy and Duff married in an intimate ceremony. They welcomed a son, Brendan, in 2010 and announced their divorce in May 2016.
