Who are Joe Alwyn's parents?  

Born Joseph Matthew Alwyn on February 21, 1991, in Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent, he grew up as a shy, introverted kid who always wanted to become an actor. Joe's parents are Richard Alwyn, a documentary filmmaker, and Elizabeth Alwyn, a reputed psychotherapist.

Alwyn's family also includes his siblings Patrick Alwyn and Thomas Alwyn. He is also the great-grandson of English composer William Alwyn. Joe completed his high school education at the City of London School and enrolled in National Youth Theatre. He studied literature and drama at the University of Bristol. Despite his family's relative association with cinema, Alwyn's early life wasn't as fancy.

The actor calls himself a middle-class documentary filmmaker father. As per IMDB, Joe's dad, Richard, has credits in several documentaries. Into the Wind, Cathedrals, Young Margaret, Speechless, Love & Letters, Child Slavery With Rageh Omaar are just a few of them. Alwyn's parents might become Swift's parents-in-law pretty soon.

As per several sources, both Joe and Taylor's parents have grown very close, and both the family approve of their relationship. Recently, Alwyn's mother was spotted at Swift's SNL gig celebration in New York. She reportedly went to fill her son's place, who is in Panama, shooting his upcoming The Stars at Noon.

Swift and Alwyn have given very little away since they started dating in 2016. So when Swift dropped her album Evermore in December 2020, fans speculated the two had secretly gotten married. And what added more to the budding rumor was Alwyn's parents' refusal to talk about it.

When asked if Swift and Alwyn were married, the actor's parents said, "I'm sorry, I'm not going to say anything." A line in the song that bugged fans for months to come was, "So tell me to run/Or dare to sit and watch what we'll become/And drink my husband's wine." The rumors and theories have died down now, but the two could be married indeed.

Alwyn and Swift are splitting their time in between England and America. Earlier this year, a source reported that while Taylor struggled with her mother, Andrea's health, Alwyn was there the whole time. "Joe has provided such a great support system for Taylor. He is the one constant in her life that she can truly rely on," the source said.
