Carrie Fisher Honored With Hollywood Walk of Fame

On May 4th, 2023, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce posthumously bestowed a great honor upon actress Carrie Fisher. She was commemorated with the 2,754th star. The unveiling of Fisher's star took place near the renowned El Capitan Theatre, located at 6840 Hollywood Boulevard.

Since 1960, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has taken immense pride in hosting the world-famous Hollywood Walk of Fame. This iconic attraction has captivated millions of people from across the globe. Her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame will serve as a lasting tribute to her remarkable talent and the indelible mark she left on the entertainment industry. 

During the ceremony, Mark Hamill, a fellow Star Wars actor and close friend of Carrie Fisher, along with Fisher's daughter, Billie Lourd, graciously accepted the star on her behalf. Hamill, known for his portrayal of Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars saga, and Lourd, an accomplished actress herself, stepped forward to honor Fisher's memory and her immense contributions to the world of entertainment. 

Married Life With Legendary Singer, Paul Simon

Carrie Fisher and Paul Simon's marriage was a brief chapter in their love story. The couple tied the knot on August 16, 1983, in a private ceremony held in New York City. Their wedding, attended by close friends and family, was an intimate affair that reflected their desire for privacy despite their high-profile status.

However, their union faced challenges, and the pressures of their careers and personal struggles took a toll on their relationship. After less than a year of marriage, Fisher and Simon announced their separation in July 1984 and officially divorced in July 1985.

She was born on July 17, 1992. Following in her mother's footsteps, Lourd embarked on her own acting career, capturing attention with her versatile performances and undeniable talent. She gained widespread recognition for her role as Chanel #3 in the television series "Scream Queens." 

Lourd has since continued to showcase her acting prowess in various projects, earning critical acclaim and establishing herself as a rising star in the entertainment industry. Further, She married her husband, Austen Rydell in 2022. They also have two kids from their relationship. 

Did Carrie Fisher Actually Dated James Blunt

In 1980, Carrie Fisher was engaged to Canadian actor and comedian Dan Aykroyd for a brief period. Aykroyd proposed to her while they were filming The Blues Brothers. Fisher shared that they took their engagement seriously, going through the process of obtaining rings. 

Not only that the former pair even got blood tests done, indicating their commitment to one another.  However, despite their initial plans, their engagement eventually came to an end. Further, the actress had a close relationship with English singer-songwriter James Blunt

During the production of his album "Back to Bedlam" in 2003, Blunt frequently stayed at Fisher's residence. When asked by Vanity Fair's George Wayne about the nature of their relationship, Fisher clarified that it was not sexual. However, she humorously stated that she became his therapist. 

Carrie Fisher's Cause of Death and Facts

On December 23, 2016, while on a flight from London to Los Angeles, actress Carrie Fisher experienced a medical emergency and stopped breathing. Fellow passengers performed CPR until paramedics arrived. She was taken to the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and placed on a ventilator. 

After four days in intensive care, Fisher passed away on December 27, 2016, at the age of 60. Her death was confirmed by her daughter, Billie. The exact cause of death was initially listed as cardiac arrest, with further tests pending. Later reports from the Los Angeles County coroner's office mentioned sleep apnea and fatty tissue buildup on artery walls as contributing factors.

A subsequent toxicology report revealed the presence of cocaine, heroin, other opiates, and MDMA in Fisher's system. Her death prompted discussions about mental health and addiction, as Fisher had been open about her struggles. 

The day after Fisher's passing, her mother, Debbie Reynolds, suffered a stroke and passed away. Both Fisher and Reynolds were honored with a joint private memorial service, and Fisher's ashes were laid to rest beside her mother at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills.
