Lauren Hissrich Says Netflix's 'The Witcher' will be Violent and "Very Brutal"

Creator of 'The Witcher' on Netflix said they are not shying away from adult content.

'The Witcher' is supposedly about to be released at the end of this year, but still, the show is without a release date, which means a little more waiting with uncertainty about what is going to happen next. All we’ve got is one trailer and some awesome character photos, and people are looking for more information on the show.

It seems the creator of the show gets what is required to keep the fans busy as they get ready for the release of the series. The problem most fans were facing with the upcoming series was how much penchant for violence the people in the series share. Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels are crazy violent, and there is also a long list of adult content in the books.

The same goes for the game, which made the books even more popular, 'The Witcher' game series is equal part violent and adult which made some fans fear the show will not be able to bring the same level of brutality and gruesome nature to the show. But it seems the people involved in the making of the show are not scared of violence or R-rated content.

Lauren Hissrich, the showrunner of 'The Witcher' for Netflix, talked to the Italian website Corriere where she reassured fans the adult content available in amble amounts, both in the book and the games, will be present in the upcoming series.

The showrunner said they are not shying away from anything, “Very brutal… we are not shy about the adult themes present in the original material,” Hissrich said while explaining the amount of violence in the series. “The novels contemplate sexism, racism, and war with a lot of politics. Let’s say five-year-olds shouldn’t watch it.”

Netflix is still not releasing the date for the arrival of the show, most probably they will release another trailer during Halloween, and then the premiere date for the show will be made clear. 'The Witcher' from Netflix is being led by Henry Cavill, who is playing the titular character, Anya Chalotra is playing Yennefer, and Freya Allen is tasked with the character of 'Ciri.'

'The Witcher' is set for a release in the last half of 2019, which means it will be arriving soon.
