A 14-year-old girl was asked for weight loss, and the actress said she felt like she was already slim. Marie said, "By the time I was 14, we did the pilot for the 'Donny & Marie' variety show, and I was down to about 110 pounds and feeling really thin. Shortly after that, I was taken out into a parking lot by producers and told that if I didn't lose more weight, the show would be canceled. So I went from about 110 pounds to 93 pounds, which was absolutely stupid."
This carried on from her teenage to her adult life as the actress said she was taking diet pills and fasting to the point she was bulimic. It was a nasty situation she was in, and everything stemmed from being fat-shamed when she was only 14 years old.

After the birth of her last son, the mother-of-eight (three biological and five adopted) went through drastic weight gain. The actress was a picturesque model with a 2-4 dress size before the birth, and then after her son was born, Marie suffered from PPD (postpartum disorder), and she also started to gain weight.
