We all stan the gushy and candid couple actress Nina Dobrev and Olympian Shaun White are. But did you know the cute pair started their relationship as a summer fling? Dobrev, 33, is a Canadian actress known for her roles in Vampire Diaries, Degrassi: The Next Generation, and Run This Town. White, 35, is a native of San Diego, California, and is a five-time Olympian and three-time Olympic gold medalist in snowboarding.  

In addition, he is also a musician and plays guitar in the rock band Bad Things. Amid the ongoing Beijing Olympics, White's fifth and final game, Dobrev has been above-board in showing her love and support for White. Several insiders have claimed that the next step in the pair's relationship would be engagement.

The Vampire Diaries actress and the snowboarder fueled raving speculation when they posted similar pictures of a trip to South Africa in February 2020. Fans were convinced of the budding romance between the two when Dobrev and Shaun were pictured enjoying a bike ride together a month later. But minimal doubt remained still as Dobrev's romantic link with director Grant Mellon was still fresh at the time.

Dobrev and White's relationship was verified in April as insiders revealed the pair were having a good time together." Nina and Shaun are into each other and are dating," a source close to the couple revealed, further adding, "They're enjoying their time together and getting to know each other better."

The duo's whirlwind romance took a turn during the lockdown when everyone was shut within their four walls and had to resort to their close ones for comfort. The Flatliners actress posted a picture of herself giving a DIY haircut to the snowboarder. Shaun gave fans a peek of how the haircut turned out by posting a clip, on which he captioned, "My hairstylist said he wouldn't, so she did. #QuarantineCuts."

The couple recently took their relationship up a notch as Nina moved into White's home in LA. The actress could not accompany her gold-medalist boyfriend for his final game in Beijing due to strict Covid guidelines, but that hasn't stopped Nina from showing her utmost support for White. In the latest post, the actress puts on her boyfriend's official gear as a way of cheering for him.

Yes, you read that right. There is a big possibility of the glamorous couple taking the next big step in their relationship. The pair's blossoming love is sending engagement signals. The couple's friends have said that they won't be surprised if White and Nina announce their engagement anytime soon now.

"They are so freaking cute and solid together," an insider told Page Six. The source further adds, "I would not be surprised if an engagement happens any day now." "They share so many interests, they're both driven, they're both into self-healing and well-being. They're both very spiritual and motivated," another friend said about the couple who share two dogs, Kevin and Maverick.

In conversation with People earlier this year, the snowboarder confessed he didn't know anything about Dobrev when he met her. The Olympian then goes on to call his girlfriend "a lifesaver." "Nina has just been so supportive and so amazing through this whole process for me," White said. "Through the pandemic, she was a lifesaver," he confessed.

Before Dobrev, the athlete was in a long relationship with Sarah Barthel. The pair dated for over five years, from 2013 to 2019. Nina's dating history includes many stars, including her co-star Ian Somerhalder, Derek Hough, Liam Hemsworth, and Austin Stowell.
