Poh Ling Yeow Says It Is Flattering To Be Considered As A Potential New MasterChef Judge
MasterChef Australia is searching for new judges and Poh Ling Yeow is at the top of that list.
'MasterChef Australia' is in full revamp mode, after 747 episodes and 11 seasons the trio of judges Gary Mehigan, George Calombaris, and Matt Preston are bowing out from the show. The trio made a final appearance on 23 July 2019 as Network Ten is currently searching for new judges to fill out the roster.
One name being touted for the job is the first season runner up Poh Ling Yeow who is the first choice for many to take the reins of the show.
The three judges are bowing out as they could not reach an agreement with the channel for a pay raise. The trio of judges was looking for a pay raise of 40% which was not met by the channel, and so they made the decision to stop their run with the show after ten years. Also, celebrity chef George Calombaris was also fined $200,000 for underpaying his employees in the region of $7.83 million.
The news came with the ending of tenure for the three judges in the show and the obvious search for the new judge. Poh Ling Yeow was touted for the job, and finally, she spoke out about the rumored job as the judge of the show where she once competed in. She said it would be “amazing” if she got the job.
Yeow seems ready to pick the job as she said, “Of course it would be amazing, hell yeah I’d be keen. Being picked to be a judge is too overwhelming to even think about. It’s been very flattering, the overwhelming response but it, not even something that I can dare to think about.”
The scandal facing the celebrity chef, George, caused people to take to internet calling for his sacking but that was all silenced when all three judges made the shocking announcement to not return for season 12.

The search reached to Yeow, which resulted in her saying she would love to be the judge, but she's being humble right now. She said, “I don’t know what I’d do if it were to happen, it’s one of those things I’d just have to process then. But until then I’ll just have to eat humble pie and get used to it.”

Yeow loves the attention, but she considers other people who would be amazing for the job as well. She said, “I think Curtis [Stone] is definitely a contender and definitely one or two females.”
The first season runner up was also all praises for Nigella Lawson who she thinks would be a fantastic judge and a perfect addition to the show.
