Prolific novelist Johanna Lindsey passed away at 67

Influential and prolific romance novelist, Johanna Lindsey passed away!

Known to the world as one of the best romantic writers of all time, Johanna Lindsey is dead at 67.

The New York Times states that she was suffering from stage 4 lung cancer and was undergoing treatment. And complication in this treatment ultimately took her life.

Though the veteran novelist died on October 27th, news of her demise just came out due to the fact that her family was way too devastated over her loss.

In her long and illustrious career, she has sold more than 60 million copies. Her publisher, Simon & Schuster states that almost every one of her novel has been granted the best-selling status.

In the 80's and 90's she revolutionized the industry and became a juggernaut of the romance genre. Along with big names such as Jude Deveraux, Judith McNaught, Kathleen Woodwiss, and Rosemary Rogers she became one of the few influential writers of the romantic era.

Born on March 10, 1952, in Frankfurt, Germany to US Army family, who were at that time stationed in Germany, Johanna relocated to the US when she was 5.

The family settled in the island of Hawaii. Later on, while she was studying in her school, she exchanged vows with Ralph Bruce Lindsey back in 1970. Tragically, her husband passed away and she made a big move to New England.

The couple was proud parents of three kids, all boys named Alfred, Garret, and Joseph, and four grandchildren.

Johanna started her journey back in 1970 when she sent a chapter to Avon Books on a whim and later they asked for the full manuscripts. It was then she officially launched her career with Captive Bride.
