Taylor Swift is No Longer Performing at the Melbourne Cup Following Animal Rights Protests

Taylor Swift is no longer performing at the upcoming Melbourne Cup in Australia following animal rights conflicts.

The "Cornelia Street" singer Taylor Swift was planned to perform at the annual house event on the coming November 5th. But sad news to all the Swifties, Taylor, 29, canceled the concert for a cause.

Mushroom Events spokesperson Michael Gudainski announced the news - Taylor will no longer be performing citing the reason as the Asia promo schedule making it logistically impossible for her to be here. "To all of Taylor's fans, we hope to see Taylor in Australia in 2020," the statement reads.

Check out the exclusive Twitter post shared on September 12th, 2019.

The announcement comes after animal rights activists urged Swift to cancel her performance shortly after it was announced earlier this month the news of fully owning her first ever album 'Lover'.

"@taylorswift13, please cancel your Melbourne Cup performance and instead use your voice to take a stand against animal abuse and say #NupToTheCup," The Coalition for the Protection of Racehorses shared on Twitter.

Although Swift did not state any connection related to her cancellation with the event, the coalition thanked her after the news on Twitter Saturday.

Taylor has also been seen being an activist for the LGBTQ community too. It really is an inspiring act by the star, isn't it?

Well, we are happy to see Taylor doing something for the animals. A Change.org petition titled "Ask Taylor Swift to Say #NupToTheCup" has also garnered over 6,000 signatures.
