The Witcher - Freya Allan Helped by Henry Cavill on Dealing with Expectations Before and After the Show Comes Out
Henry Cavill seems to be mentoring the actress Freya Allan throughout the filming of the first season of The Witcher on Netflix.
After it was announced, Netflix got the rights to 'The Witcher' books series, written by Andrzej Sapkowski, and the streaming giant was going to make a live-action show based on the books. There were obviously some tensions among fans of the book and game series about how well the people involved in the making of the show are going to get the show and be able to bring the best version of the books to life.
Then the first promotional video of the show was released with a cheap-looking silver wig on top of Henry Cavill’s head and his walking from darkness to light. The whole thing was mocked to death, and people were not comfortable with the man from Britain getting the job to portray 'Geralt.'

In many ways, 'Geralt' is as stoic-figure as 'Superman,' and people were not comfortable with their least favorite 'Superman,' taking on the role of 'Geralt of Rivia.' The casting of the actor did not go down well, and then the two leading ladies of the show were cast, and things just went downhill from thereon.
Anya Chalotra was an unknown actress with a lot of theatre credits but only two on-camera TV experience to speak of. Anya was hired to play the character of 'Yennefer,' and the other thing people did not like about the casting was 'Yennefer' and 'Geralt' are supposed to be romantically involved in the show, and Anya was barely 22 at the time of her hiring and Henry was about 37. The 15 years of age gap was not something people were particularly happy about.

Freya Allan, who plays 'Cirilla' in the show, was also only 17, and she was supposed to be kind of 'Geralt' and Yennefer’s adopted baby. Freya’s casting was also called into question, but no one from the production department of the show spoke a single word about the controversial hirings.
Then the comic con happened, and people got on board with the hiring of Anya, seeing her amazing sizzle reel at the convention. Freya was also embraced by the fans, but it took a whole trailer for fans to be convinced Henry was the perfect man for the job and in an interview, during the run-up to the release of the show, Freya talked about how Henry is the perfect man for the job and also how she was helped by the former Superman actor, to manage expectations and deal with the positive and negative aspects of the show coming out.

In a phone interview with philstar, Freya said, “He’s such a fan of The Witcher. That is so clear how excited he is about it all. And it’s so nice to be around someone who was so excited despite having been in this world in this industry for so long; he has such an excitement and passion for it. And he worked so, so hard.”
The actress also mentioned how he was always there for her, and showing her how things work behind the scene, she said, “We had some really, really great conversations where you kind of, you know, talk me through things I was worried about what happens after the show comes out and things because obviously, you know, he started out acting when he was about 17.”

Freya also mentioned how his almost two decades worth of knowledge came in handy for her when it comes to talking about stuff other people would be oblivious about. The actress said, “It’s great to have someone to speak to about things that I don’t know about and other people in my life don’t know about, but he does because he’s very experienced within the industry and dealing with everything that comes with it.”
It seems Henry Cavill took on the role of a mentor when it comes to Freya, and it is exactly what you are supposed to do when working with the younger generation. The more tools they’ve got in their arsenal, the better they will be when adversity eventually strikes, and it seems Freya will have the guidance of Henry for a foreseeable future as The Witcher is already renewed for a second season.
