Previously known as Vanessa Minnillo, the actress took up the surname Lachey after she tied the knot with singer Nick Lachey in 2011. The actress revealed she adopted her husband's last name because she is old-fashioned and because it meant a lot to Nick. Minnillo's journey into showbiz started with the actress winning several beauty pageants.  

She won Miss Teen South Carolina and was crowned Miss Teen USA title. Vanessa started her professional career by hosting popular shows like MTV's The Morning After and Total Request Live. Lachey is a successful actress, fashion model, and television host. But her turbulent childhood and relationship with her parents is a story that isn't explored much.  

Who are Vanessa Lachey's Parents?  

Vanessa Joy Minnillo, also known as Vanessa Lachey, was born in Angeles City, Philippines, on November 9, 1980. Her father, Vincent Charles Minnillo, was in the air force and had to move frequently. He was deployed at the 13th Air Force Regional Medical Center at Clark Air Base in Angeles City, where he met Minnillo's mother, Helen Ramos Bercero.   

Minnillo describes her childhood as tumultuous. The actress had an uprooted childhood because of her father's profession. The family would often relocate to new homes.

Three years after her birth, Minnillo's parents separated, and when she turned nine, her mother left the family and set up a new family with her adopted son Vincent. Vanessa was raised by her father and her stepmother Donna.

It was not until Vanessa Lachey's marriage with singer Nick Lachey in 2011 that her bitter relationship with her estranged parent came to light. The actress's mother claimed that she didn't even know that her daughter got married, let alone get an invitation to the couple's lavish nuptials.

"We last spoke about 12 years ago, on the phone. I just wanted to talk to her and tell her everything straight about my life," Helen said. 

Vanessa's father revealed that his ex-wife had abandoned her daughter. Likewise, Helen never looked back after leaving.   

Vanessa Minnillo and Nick's Reactions to Nick's Ex-Wife's Claims!    

Not long ago, Lachey's ex-wife, singer Jessica Simpson revealed stuff that shook Lachey and Vanessa's world. Earlier this year, Simpson dropped her memoir, Open Book, unveiling her decade-long hurt and complaints. Jessica and Nick were married from 2002 to 2006, and the 98 Degrees lead started seeing Vanessa in 2007.   

"So, Nick, you're with another already? Seems that you forgot the love you spoke to me. I'm saddened beyond belief. Alone in the dark, with no one to call my own," Simpson wrote in her memoir.

In a statement revealed by Lachey, the singer said he is not even a bit interested in his ex-wife's memoir. 

"I lived the book. I know what the truth is, so I don't need to read someone's version of it in a story," he said.

Vanessa hasn't released any statement, but the actress indicated her and Nick's blissful marriage. She was recently given the lead role in CBS's NCIS Hawai. 

The beauty queen told E! that her husband had no objection when she said they would have to relocate to Hawaii for the series. Nick and Vanessa have three kids.
