Who Is Wendy Williams' Second Husband? Why Did They Get Divorced?

Wendy Williams and her second Kevin Hunter were married for over two decades: Inside the former couple's marriage and separation!  

Best known as the frontwoman of the nationally syndicated show The Wendy Williams Show, Wendy Williams is a broadcaster, writer, actress, and media personality. Currently, in the news for her deteriorating health conditions and her continuing hiatus from the show, the frontrunners of The Wendy Williams Show are reportedly considering replacing Wendy for the season. Wendy, 57, is a native of Asbury Park, New Jersey. Wendy has been married twice and her last marriage with her second husband, Kevin Hunter, dissolved not long ago in 2019.

 If you've read Williams' autobiography Wendy's Got the Heat, or perhaps watched her biographical film Wendy Williams: The Movie, you'd be familiar with the broadcaster's story with her second husband, or at least, with her side of the story. Wendy and Hunter, a television producer, married on November 30, 1999.

Hunter, a native of Ontario, Canada, relocated to the States in his youth, where he met and formed an alliance with Williams. The former couple worked together on Williams' talk show, where Hunter would contribute as a producer. The couple's marriage wasn't all perfect, as the host revealed herself while working at the commercial radio station WUSL.

Williams spoke about her multiple miscarriages, her problem with cocaine addiction, plastic surgeries, which not only helped the station soar in its ranking but also earned Wendy a legion of fans. In her book, Williams described Kevin as a "thug with a heart of gold." "Kevin saw me. He loved the whole of me. And I loved him for that. Plus, I felt safe with him, like he could protect me," Williams writes in her book.

After many failed attempts, Williams and Hunter welcomed their son Kevin Hunter Jr in 2010. Citing "irreconcilable differences," Wendy filed for divorce in 2019, finalized in Janaury 2020. However, after their infamous divorce, Williams revealed she was still in touch with Hunter. "He calls from time to time; I don't block his number, though, he's my son's father," the talk show host said.

Williams called it quits on their longstanding marriage and partnership after discovering Hunter had fathered an illegitimate child with a mistress. The Wendy Williams Show host revealed the child wasn't a result of a one-night stand or drunk cheating, but a product of Hunter's 15 years long extra-marital affair with the woman.

"I don't regret the day of meeting him. I don't regret putting up with him for all 25 years," Williams said in an interview, adding, "I've known about her almost since the beginning. I've known that Kevin is a serial cheat. Kevin kept mum about the scandal for a while, and when he did break his silence, the producer had this to say, "I am going through a time of self-reflection and am trying to right some wrongs."

Wendy's ex-husband and his mistress, Sharina Hudson, took their relationship up a notch and got engaged last year. Hudson was spotted flaunting her big engagement ring, priced at $80,000, on the gram in April. Although it isn't clear when exactly Hunter popped the question to his then-mistress, as per sources, the wedding could be anytime soon.

Before Hunter, the broadcaster was married to Bert Girigorie, who she met, married, and separated before rising to fame. Williams revealed in her book that her first marriage with Bert lasted only five months; their divorce was finalized after 18 months of marriage.  

It's not only Hunter who is moving past their marriage and infamous divorce; last year, Wendy took to her gram and revealed she had a boyfriend. "My son's 21st birthday party on the yacht in #Miami was everything he wanted! Even my boyfriend," Wendy wrote.
