Lisa Jakub was a child actress who started working in the movie industry at the age of seven, and by the time she was 15 years old, Lisa was part of the second highest-grossing movie worldwide in 1993 with 'Mrs. Doubtfire.' But it was not the end of the blockbuster career, which only expanded further when she appeared in 'Independence Day' in 1996.
'Independence Day' was a massive success in 1996 as the movie made over $800 million at the box office more than twelve times its production budget and at the time, became the second highest-grossing movie behind 'Jurassic Park.' It was a breakout role for the actress, who got a little screen time in a film starring Jeff Goldblum and Will Smith.
But the exposure was not enough to convince the actress, acting was meant for her. After starring in multiple movies, TV shows, and TV movies, the actress was not okay with her position in the movie industry, and soon, she decided she wanted to leave. When most actors and actresses start working in the show business, Lisa Jakub hung her proverbial boots and left the acting business behind.
What is Lisa Jakub Doing Now (2019-2020)?
Lisa Jakub started working as a writer when she left the movie industry, and after battling with anxiety and panic attacks, she decided to help others with the same problems and provide them with solutions she used to control her panic attacks.
The former actress is also a certified yoga teacher from 'Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health,' and she is working with people on seminars as a presenter and instructor. Lisa Jakub will present an event from March 13-15 in 2020 about' Anxiety Management Through Yoga, Writing, and Learning to Embrace Your Weird.'
According to the Kripalu website, “Lisa Jakub discusses tangible ways to understand your inner critic, increase compassion for yourself and others, and access the joy within that often feels smothered by stress. This program provides opportunities (but no obligation) to share your creative work in a supportive community and return home with tools to create more happiness and ease in daily life.”
It seems the former actress found her niche with Yoga and self-help books, and she is making her career while also rebranding herself from her acting days while also making a successful foray into podcasting. Lisa found her calling and managed to control her anxiety through yoga, which she is using to help others in 2019-2020.
Lisa Jakub’s Career After Her Retirement
Lisa Jakub was born on 27 December 1978, and before her 23rd birthday in 2001, the actress decided acting, and Hollywood was not cutting it for her, and she decided it was time to call it quits. There was not particularly a plan for her career from 2001, but she knew acting was not helping with her anxiety problem, which was causing her vomiting and a lot of pain.
The former actress’s panic attack was also getting worse with her suffering three attacks each day. She was no getting the relieve she needed from acting, so she decided to get help with yoga, which was a god sent for the former actress who was finally getting grips on her panic attacks.
After her experience, she decided to share it all with the world, writing two books. The first one, 'You Look Like That Girl: A Child Actor Stops Pretending and Finally Grows Up,' was a book about her experience as an actress in the late 80s and throughout the 90s. The book, released in 2015, was also about her finding herself and being true to where she wanted to be in her life.
Lisa then wrote, 'Not Just Me: Anxiety, Depression, and Learning to Embrace Your Weird,' which was released in 2017 and the book was received with critical acclaim and was a commercial success with the former actress using the fame of the book to hold talks to help people on how to deal with anxiety and depression.
After she gave up on the acting career for three years, she sought help, which she found and took control of her life. She was in a relationship for a long time with a former theatre manager. Jeremy Jones and Lisa Jakub were in a relationship, and the couple moved to Virginia, where they finally made their relationship official with a ceremony in 2005.
The couple is still married to this date, and it seems the decision to leave behind Hollywood was a good one. She not only found fame and managed to get her anxiety and panic attack in check, but she also got married and found love; it seems everything worked out for the best for the former actress.
