Matt himself announced the big news via his Twitter account.
As soon as the word got out, die hard fans started commenting their take on the matter. So far, there's been mixed response regarding his casting.
The fictional character, Oswald Cobblepot, aka Penguin, is a small guy with a slight hunchback and an extra protruding nose. As Colin himself is a tall guy one can only imagine as to how he will he portray the character.
In addition, playing the character is quite hard as Danny DeVito has left big shoes to fill. He enacted the role in the 1992 movie, Batman Returns and his portrayal was well received, even by the comic veterans.
Colin, on the other hand, is an exceptional actor in his own right. His name was linked with Warner Brothers's movie since late last year. His name shipped more after the confirmation that Jonah Hill won't be playing the role.
