Rush Limbaugh Receives the Presidential Medal of Freedom at the State of the Union

The conservative radio personality, Rush Limbaugh, who recently announced his advanced lung cancer, received the Presidential Medal of Freedom at the State of the Union!

Rush Limbaugh recently announced his advanced lung cancer in the Monday edition show on February 3. The guy who usually refrains talking about himself, took a moment to explain his current medical issue and the steps he planned on taking to battle it.

Needless to say that the conservative RJ is one of Donald Trump's favorite. So as soon as the president of the United States heard about Limbaugh's condition, he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Trump. Trump also tweeted encouraging words for Rush Limbaugh.

Like most of Trump's decisions, the resolution to award Rush came in an uncommon variation from the protocol. The talk radio icon of America attended President Donald Trump's State of the Union address Tuesday night and sat next to the first lady, Melania Trump, in the gallery of House of Representatives.

Rush sat alongside others invited to the gallery, such as Venezuela's opposition leader, a top border patrol agent, and several other guests of Trump.

As President Trump began talking about Rush Limbaugh, he called Rush the greatest fighter and winner beloved by millions of Americans. Trump went on to thank Limbaugh for his decades of talent and contribution towards the country before announcing Limbaugh's achievement. He then requested the First Lady of the United States to bestow the highest honor a civilian could receive.

Trump's decision to award Limbaugh, however, wasn't without criticism. Many even took it upon themselves to point out the radio host's past controversies like opposition to the Affordable Care Act and calling Sandra Fluke, a law student, names such as sl*t and prostitute, after she spoke to a congressional hearing about birth control.

Speculations also arose Donald Trump handed out the award to just about anyone. Trump previously awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Tiger Woods, Roger Staubach, Orrin Hatch, and Miriam Adelson, a philanthropist and the wife of Sheldon Adelson, a billionaire donor to Trump.
