Everything We Know So Far About Disney Plus Series Hawkeye

Hawkeye is coming to Disney+ and we finally know some things about the series.

Marvel movies head honcho Kevin Feige said he stumbled into an “embarrassment of riches” when it related to the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With the upcoming release of the Disney+ streaming service, Kevin’s now got two different platforms to tell the stories he needs to set up the future of the MCU.

So, with movies and TV series to play with, Kevin introduced a two-year plan of five films and five TV shows at the San Diego Comic-con this year. With a new movie like Shang-Chi and The Eternals as well as sequels for Doctor Strange and Thor and finally a tribute solo movie for Black Widow, the TV announcements kind of got lost in the shuffle. There was some stand out TV announcements like 'Falcon and Winter Soldier' and 'WandaVision' but among the entire announcement one name got lost, 'Hawkeye'.

In a world full of superpower beings, one man with a bow and arrow went from a butt of everyone’s joke to a sympathetic fan favorite. We heard rumblings of a show with Hawkeye, but it was finally confirmed at the SDCC.

The last time we saw Hawkeye was in Endgame when he was running around the killing people who he deemed unworthy to be in this earth in 2023. 'Clint' was brought back by Black Widow, and he was essential in the getting of the soul stone. We saw after the battle with Thanos he is reunited with his family and they all come to Tony’s funeral. But it was not the end of Barton’s story, so he is coming back for a series on Disney+.

The Plot Of The Show

As always Marvel is playing everything close to their chest and we are getting a show with Hawkeye, and it is all we know as of now. We heard Jeremy Renner talk about Barton trying to redeem himself and training 'Kate Bishop' to become a superhero without power. In the comics, Kate forces her way into the Avengers, and it is probably the way she will ingrain herself with Hawkeye who will train not his daughter, but Kate. Renner said at the comic con;

What I get to do in the show ultimately is shepherd an amazing character, eventually, a better version of me and the sentiment of that is the fiber of what Hawkeye is, at least what I think Hawkeye is - a superhero without superpowers and I get to teach someone else to be a superhero without superpowers.

In the comics, Kate is the third person to take up the Hawkeye mantle, and we cannot wait to see Kate Bishop with her Hawkeye plus Mockingbird costume.

Jeremy Renner Is Returning

As mentioned above, Jeremy Renner was present at the comic con to tell everyone he was returning for the series. Jeremy is training Kate, and beyond the training, nothing is known of what Clint will be doing in the series. He probably shed his Ronin persona from Endgame, but there are many people he killed during the five year period, so it will be interesting how he reconciles with his murderous past.

The Release Date?

The entire slate of Phase 4.

The date for the release of Hawkeye was not revealed except for a vague in fall 2021 date. The show will be the last of Disney+ streaming shows in Phase 4. The show will follow immediately after Thor: Love and Thunder as it calls the curtain on the experimental Phase four. Since the series is the final one in Phase 4 and it is also introducing one of the younger members of the Avengers, it probably means Kevin Feige is moving towards a young Avenger movie or maybe a TV series. He did mention the allure of a young Avengers story a long time ago perhaps this show will be the one which introduces a new crop of Avengers. So, maybe this will be the most important TV series among the five coming our way.

When Can We Expect The Trailer?

The show may release some concept arts and some costume designs in 2020, but we will probably get a trailer during the 2021 comic con. Anything before comic con seems very unlikely, but we at least know the vicinity around which the show is coming in the fall of 2021.
