Nicole Kidman Commemorates 16th Anniversary With Husband Keith Urban

In her latest post, the Cold Mountain actress states that she still remembers her wedding with Keith Urban like it was yesterday, so it seems the sparks haven't fizzled out on the enduring couple after all these years. Sharing a throwback picture of the duo on their wedding day, the Australian-American actress writes, "sweet XVI, Remember this like it was yesterday. Forever." Urban also took to his Instagram and shared a picture of himself with Nicole. Urban captions, "Happy sweet 16th baby."

The Oscar winner and her New Zealand-born Australian singer husband go back to 2005. The duo crossed paths during an Australian Jamboree in Los Angeles, and Kidman was immediately smitten by Urban, who took his time falling for The Hours actress. "I remember thinking, I had such a crush on him, and he wasn't interested in me," Kidman recalls. The actor and singer duo started dating after a few months and soon found themselves heading into a whirlwind relationship.

After nearly a year of romance, Kidman and Urban tied the knots on June 25, 2006, at the Cardinal Cerretti Memorial Chapel in Sydney. Among many A-listers who witnessed their holy union were Russel Crowe, Naomi Watts, Hugh Jackman, etc. But like in every marriage, the Australian couple have had their share of downs in their nuptials and have noticeably fought the battles together. Before meeting Kidman, Keith had a history of substance abuse; the country singer relapsed just months after his wedding with Nicole, who Urban says helped him overcome the addiction.

Urban, 54, a four-time Grammy winner and a revered name in the country music circles, dedicated his wife a song, Thank You, in his sixth studio album, Defying Gravity. The lyrics to the tribute song read, "I thank you for my heart, I thank you for my life/, And I thank God for grace and mercy / And that you became my wife." Known for his ever-green hits like But for the Grace of God, Somebody Like You, and You'll Think of Me, Urban has, however, prevailed as the subdued celebrity in his marriage with the Oscar-winning actress.

The twosome is doting parents to two daughters; Nicole shares two adopted children with her ex-husband Tom Crusie. Nearly two years into their marriage, Keith and Nicole welcomed their firstborn, Sunday Rose Kidman Urban, 13, in July 2008. The duo welcomed their second daughter Faith Margaret, via surrogacy in 2010. Nicole has played a protective mama till now by tugging her daughters away from the limelight, but the two might soon follow in their mother's footsteps considering their cameo appearances on Kidman's The Undoing.

The Australian actress met Tom on the sets of their 1989 blockbuster Days of Thunder and soon began in what will be the showbiz's most memorable scandal. Kidman ad Cruise tied the knots on Christmas Eve of 1990. Looking smitten and committed in their relationship, the power couple welcomed two adopted kids, Isabella Cruise, 29, and Connor Cruise, 27. But the hasty marriage soon led to their split and, even worse, a wave of media speculations about their marriage.

Cruise filed for divorce in February 2001, and their nuptial was dissolved the same year. Because of the estranged couple's unforthcoming attitude toward their marriage and divorce, the media has made several speculations about what went wrong in their relationship. "It took me a very long time to heal. It was a shock to my system. We were in a bubble, just the two of us," Kidman later revealed. The Cold Mountain actress dated musician Lenny Kravitz and even got engaged to him at one point before she found her forever in Urban.
